The countdown to the end of the regular season continues. Two also is the number of Lions wins and green bay losses needed to solidify the Lions as divisional champions. The road to the playoffs rolls through Detroit for the NFC North.

No reason to abandon all hope. The last game of the season is at home, opponents have been held below three TD's since week 6, and it's the Holidays. I can wait until after the New Year before listening to "same old Lions" rhetoric. I haven't even been seeing speculation on who to draft as much as what type of position to target, and even that has been pretty minimal.

Fermented Kool-Aid? Maybe just a little home improved eggnog.

I can't really say I've ever used the SOL moniker. Remotely accused of being a homer usually.

They've beat one winning team, the Redskins. Which by the way is also the closest to a playoff team(8th seed). I got excited for a minute with them. It's just gone. Their body of work does not impress me. The Bears loss keeps my emotions in check.

(Losing out could get me excited. But then I also could get disappointed. Which I've tried hard not to allow that to be a possibility this year.)

In a perfect world, Stafford would catch fire and lead this team to the super bowl.

In reality, this is a team that has ZERO running game and a defense that gives up 73% completion percentage to opposing QB's. Not a recipe for success by any means.

If Falcons, Bucs, and Redskins lose this week the Lions can lose out and still make the playoffs. Which would be the most Lions way of making the playoffs ever

Hard to get excited with both Staff and Slay hurt. Slay will most likely sit this week. Staff has been inaccurate since the finger injury. Defense has been frustrating but decent.

I would rest everyone against Dallas and shoot for the win at home in the final week.

If Minny beats GB and we lose to Dallas, we still couldn't win the North while losing out though.

But if Minny wins, that means we could have beaten TWO teams with a .500 record in 2016.(full circle. Two)

But if Minny and the Washington football team both lose out. And we lose out. We will have beaten ZERO .500 or better teams. (Speaking of ZERO... I hear that's how many ProBowlere we have. Have yet to confirm.)

I'm just glad I get to watch the last two games of the regular season. I know there's ways of trying to get them through foreign feeds, or by shelling out for a special NFL package, or by hitting one of the sports bars. There's just something special about being at home and able to yell at the screen or whoop for joy that makes the games worth it. I'm still holding the team to having to win the NFC North outright for it to be a successful season. It may not look as likely as it did three weeks ago, but there is still a possibility and a reason to cheer them on.
