Wow...In other words, the "pundits" at TSN feel there are 12 better teams in the NHL at the start of this upcoming season.

As a rule, ingore everything Scott Cullen ("fantasy sports and statistical expert") says. I doubt McKenzie or Dreger or anyone who knows anything beyond stats has the Pens that low.

I mean, read the article. The guy says the Pens are in trouble offensively because they lost Guerin, Fedotenko and Ponikarovski. Those three guys were the biggest problems with the offense! It's addition by subtraction, at least in the case of Feds and Pony.

I'll take it, thats puts the Blueshirts in the eigth seed in the East, even though I see us in sixth or seventh, i'll be happy as long as we make it.

Well he's got Edmonton at 30, so he at least got something right! :p

Uhh...hmm. This team (on paper) is already much better than last years if only because we have some formidable D-men now. I don't mind being ranked that low (though I doubt 'if' the Pens finish higher that anyone will be surprised), but how are the Hawks above the Pens when his criticism is that we lost our offensive 'weapons' (BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH, can't take that seriously). I mean, the 'weapons' we lost were Guerin, Tenk, and Poni. Guerin and Tenk are currently on TRYOUT CONTRACTS! Yeah...real blow there.

I can understand keeping Chicago above us (because they are champions afterall) even after the plunge, but St. Louis? Los Angeles? Buffalo who lost their top two defensemen? Boston who is a perennial choker? One year out of Phoenix replaces a two-time Cup finalist and four time playoff team?

I think Toronto can do worse than 24th. Here is hoping 30th.

there's 4 or 5 prospects that are in the running for #1 pick.
So the leafs don't NEED to be 29 or 30.....

.... but it would be nice. :D

I don't see how they can be this low. I personally thought the 30 was coming along OK and then this.

St. Louis is a better team than the Pens? Phoenix?

I mean losing GOnchar has been problematic in the past, for whatever reason, but he's not gone to injury this time. He has been replaced by two guys who can play top 4 minutes on just about any NHL roster.

Unless Cullen knows something no one else does about forthcoming injuries to Crosby and Malkin, this rating is way too low.

Signed,
A guy who can't stand the Penguins.
