Ah, man. It really kind of hurts to read that article. It's all so....correct. I don't think I've ever really talked about it on here before but I have some pretty intense battles with depression. It's what caused me to just walk out of my job this year. I was even briefly hospitalized at one point (I'm talking just a few hours) a few months ago. And I've been reading a lot, maybe too much, about Belak, Rypien, and Boogaard. I guess when something about their stories feel familiar, you read and read to figure out if it's going to happen to you too.
Anyways, don't know what prompted me to say all that. Guess it was just an especially poignant article because he's so right when he talks about the way people joke or mask or feel guilty about their depression. It made me feel a little sad but it also reminded me to stop fucking doing that.
Oh and he's also very right when he says it's not cool to ask someone what they have to be depressed about or to tell them to snap out of it.
I have a friend who means well but every time he tells me to "Just stop and be happy!" I want to punch him in the face. Cause it ends up making you feel worse because you know you're not able to "just stop."
Ohhh thanks. I'm well. I don't mean to give off the impression that I'm a total fruitbasket. It's something that kind of pops up on you sometimes. I think that's what the article was saying a little bit too.
Wait. Whistle face. You do follow me on Twitter?! I'm going to investigate this.
