Trusting your defense

The Panthers/Raiders game is exactly why you don't trust your defense to stop a team that has already scored 30.

The Raiders game. They got a stop even when Carolina's offense was hot. I brought this topic up in the Dallas game b/c of the first onside kick that Gruden made. Many analysts including myself are second guessing the first onside kick call.

The Raiders defense is better than ours. Hell aside from the Browns, I cant think of a defense I would trust LESS than ours.

bullshit Shark. Has the Browns defense won 4 games for them this year? You guys seem to forget our defense won 4 games this year late in the 4th qtr on final drives. Its water under the bridge now but Gruden threw his defense under the bus with 7 minutes left to play in the game. I guess he forgot too that his defense won 4 games for him this year.

Other than Detroit, it has stepped up on every opponent game winning drive.

The Raiders did not put the game into the hands of their defense. Carolina did. They had given up 32 points with a ton of time remaining, 4th and 1, and they punted from around the 45. They had scored 32 but chose to put it in the hands of the D

Regardless their defense stepped up and stopped Carolina from getting a FG attempt.

I will give you the Detroit game. The first Dallas game KC missed two Td's to wide open Wr's. KC was awful that game. Thanksgiving game we never had to the lead. Gruden, onsides kick with 7 minutes left in the game down by 5.

Again dude, if the defense could be trusted to stop a team from scoring at will, you might have a point. But our defense is giving up an average of 24 points per game. Our offense is scoring 25.5... So where is the weak spot?? If our offense needs to score 30+ points per game to give us a SHOT to win.... the defense sucks moose dick.

Cleavelands offense sucks ass, as does Baltimore's. Minnesota has the WORST rated offense in the league right now.

So our defense did decent against offenses rated 20th or worse. But yes they have been AWESOME!!!

Aren't you using stats as well? And the Skins put 31 on the Browns.

And the offense should've scored 30+ points against Minn, NYG, both Dallas games, Philly game, Cincy.

The defense can't be depended on to bust a grape if they fell on it. That's not to say they can't or won't come up with another solid performance in a game like Philly or Det. Maybe the will, maybe they won't. It doesn't really matter though cuz this team lives and dies with Kirk and the offense, period. Regardless what one sees as more of an issue. A shitty defense or a shitty RZ offense. Only the RZ issue stands a chance of being fixed/made better in the next 5 weeks. If for no other reason than the offense is the most cohesive and talented unit of the team. The defense's issues can't be solved this year, they can only be endured. Plus we've seen a Skins offense led by KC be damn good in the RZ.
