Still hearing the Orioles are likely to get another player from #Mariners in Trumbo/Clevenger deal. Haven't heard deal is done yet.

Salary dump obviously. This really kills the whole Trumbo deal with AZ. So we traded two higher ranked prospects, Leone, and a catcher we could have used for Nuno and a backup catcher. Dipoto really hated Trumbo I guess.

Negatives: We basically gave away two prospects and have a hole at 1st Base now.

Positives: His defense won't cost us runs, salary relief and I won't have hear Sims say "Trumbo Jumbo" anymore.

I have always believed you get more value in season because there is less players available. M's wanted a power bat where there weren't many available so spent more. Off season just about everyone has a player available and teams knew we didn't want to pay him $9M this year. Not a proud moment in M's history on this one.

You and me both. Just posted a thread comparing last years ending roster vs as of today roster. I have Montero as our 1B and DH. Oh Boy!

Still need 1B, RF, DH (unless it is Montero), 2 pen arms and 1 #2 SP. Rearranging the deck chairs I am afraid.

I'd be surprised if Montero is on the 25 man come April let alone hold a starting spot. He doesnt seem to fit the mold. I wouldnt be surprised if Seth Smith is dealt too.

Montero- Agreed, but that means both 1B and DH would have to be filled with outsiders since nobody in minors ready for either spot.

Smith- I have said that all along, but trading him opens another spot needing filled. I thought Aoki for Smith roster spot SWAP was likely saving us maybe $1-2M which I am all for.

I am not a Trumbo fan, but this deal has me scratching my head. Trumbo should be worth more than a back up catcher, but even if that isn't the case, we shouldn't have had to send a second player to cover Clevenger's value.

My hope is that Cruz is mostly DHing and that we are looking for a full time corner OF. I like the idea of the Aoki for Smith. Surprised the Giants declined his option. Agreed. I don't get that part either. Read all the national sites and they all headline it by saying Trumbo traded. Not one said Clevenger traded asking why are we throwing in another player when we traded the headliner in the deal???

Can't see Parra and Aoki because both are LH'd along with Martin leaving Guti as only real RH's OF'er. I like both though.

When I first heard Orioles, I was hoping Matusz for the pen. Pretty disappointed in this one.
