GMGM the bad: Traded Forsberg for Erat.

GMGM the good: Drafted Burakovsky, Kuzy, Johansen, Orlov, Carlson and Holtby and the highest overall pick used for any of those guys was 23rd.

I would say GMGM was a GDGM (great drafting GM) but a pretty bad TMGM (team management GM).

To a point - I think if they had a Holtby during his tenure they at least get to a Cup. All but one time that they were eliminated from the playoffs it was a 7 game series (outlier being the 2011 sweep by TB). That is more shitty luck than anything.

If the Caps can avoid going up 3 games to 1 in the playoffs they have a great chance.
What about going up 4 games to 1? The odds gotta swing in their direction then.

Too funny that this was started by someone whose team has a coach who might be the biggest choking coach in the history of sports - at least the Caps are done with him. As for the Caps - who knows - they might win it all or they might get bounced in the first round. That is what makes it fun to watch.

Certainly their chances are a lot better by not having Boudreau as their coach - we will see.

The Caps' current coach has won 2 playoff series in 8 playoff appearances in 16 seasons. If Boudreau was a choker, they replaced him with an even bigger choke artist.

That's true, but there is a good argument to be made for him having coached a few teams to the playoffs that really didn't deserve to be there based on their roater.

But he has choked on a chicken wing before. I have it on good authority.

Sure, but that doesn't mean he didn't fail to succeed with what appeared (based on regular season results) to be good teams - of the 6 times Nashville made the playoffs under Trotz in the cap era the team finished in 4th three times and 5th once. Two of those 4th place finishes resulted in 4-1 first round losses to San Jose and the other in a 4-1 second round loss to a Phoenix team that finished with 7 fewer points than Nashville in the regular season.

By those stats, if I'm calling one of Boudreau or Trotz a choke artist it's probably Trotz, at least at the moment. Ask me again in June.

Really? Valid pts about Trotz. However - you don't even consider some of the past for Boudreau? Consider that 1. his teams are 1-6 in game 7s (often after having one of the best records in the league 2. all of those game 7 losses were on home ice & 3. the 4 most recent came after his team had a 3-2 series lead. Several of these losses were outright blowouts.

If nothing else the decision requires some thought. I will take my chances with Trotz - time will tell.
