by the Cubs in the 7th round of the MLB draft.

I can only assume he doesn't play hockey, they list him as a 2 sport high school athlete. Baseball and Football, but the again i guess there isn't much high school hockey in SoCal...

Will he make the Majors? Janet says "bet on it"....

Jonathan Mayo seems to think Gretzky's best bet is to go to college and up his stock.

I can't wait until the Cubs have a father-son game and Wayne throws some heat at Trevor...

Fuck people who hate the Cubs. I can see hating their drunken redneck frat boy fans, but the team? Come on, they're like Tim Thomas, without talent. They're like a baseball team full of Rudy's.

/and I'm not talking about the one on the Cosby show

Carlos Zambrano's enough to make me hate a team.

there are a few teams. Most of the good ones are in private schools and coached by former Kings or Ducks players. However most of the guys getting drafted from California play high school and above out of state.

Starting to get more and more quality hockey players out of California...Off the top of my head are Jonathan Blum, Mitch Wahl, and Emerson (Lake and Palmer) Etem.

I hate the Cubs. Heck, Cubs used to stand for: Completely Useless By September...but this year it's more CUBJ. And the J isn't for July. I bet my professor at school that the Buccos would finish higher than the Cubs this year. I'm looking pretty smart right now. Still a lot of games left though.

MLB scouting teams are the most taxed in sports. Not only do they have to pore over tens of thousands of draft candidates every year, looking not only at their games, but their character makeups and signability, but they also have to scout everyone else's minor league systems for trade targets. The minor league affiliates I can think of are AAA, AA, A+, A, Rookie Ball, VSL, DSL, extended spring training, and short-season ball. Each affiliate has a roster of about 25 players. That means that each of 31 other teams in the league have at least 225 players who can be scouted.

yeah, I just found out that out local 'pro' ball team is now a Class A affiliate of the Blue Jays.
single A ball isn't very compelling, but we have an awesome little ballpark, and noon games are always a great place to have a beer or three.

we used to be AAA with the Angels - that was some decent ball.
