Rumer has it that Brion Carnes will be transfering this summer... wouldn't be a huge loss and probably a good decision for him if he actually wants playing time. He'll be a RS-Jr, so if he transfered within the FBS levels he would still have to sit out a year. I would expect him to go the FCS route.

Not a big deal..

I like Brion as a person tho

same here... wish him the best wherever he goes. I think he can see the writing on the wall... QB room is full and moving to WR put him in even a deeper hole. Good luck to him.

Maybe try and see if Western Kentucky will take him? Not sure what their situation is.

Western Kentucky hired Bobby Petrino as their head coach... the reason Brion was interested in them in recruiting is because his family has a major connection with then head coach Willie Taggart (current USF head coach). I would think Taggart would still take him... though Brion couldn't play until his senior year.

It's close to home for Brion too, so that would be good.

I was so excited about this kid out of HS... admittedly that was partly because he's Tommie's cousin, but still sorry to see him go. A good decision by him though, 4th string doesn't sound very fun.

Actually helps both parties...

He can go to a school and get some PT....

And N gets another ship to use....

Why would a third year player with no chance at the NFL transfer from Nebraska to Western Kentucky or USF? Because of the NCAA graduate rule, the soonest he'd play for the another school is in 2014 either the way. The question is whether it is worth someone wasting a year of their life just to (possibly) start at a crappy school instead of riding the bench for Nebraska.

I get love of football and all, but it seems pretty crazy to waste a year of your life when there is no guarantee you would even start.

He probably wants to play QB again one last time. He was a great HS QB in Florida, but he had major trouble grasping the playbook here.

I think he's probably just one of those kids who peaked in HS because of the level of competition he was facing and elite coaching he was getting.

He needs to find a school with a really basic spread offense. I'm worried for him if he thinks he can come in and start at a school with a thick playbook. That would be delusional on his part.

I was a little sad to read about this carnes had the ability to be a good qb but like most said he couldn't grasp the play book. IMO he should have left last year so that he would have more time. Best of luck carnes

Its sad to see talented players transferring by the truck load on the O because they just won't have the opportunity to play, yet the Defense is just the exact opposite. Just a few years ago I was wishing and hoping for the opposite of that scenario, and wallah, I have it
