I have been offered Demaryius Thomas for Giovani Bernard.

Question is do I need Thomas enough to weaken a pretty solid core of backs?

what is the starting format-

In any normal league, I don't see any way for it to be possible to start all 4 RBs... so it would not be crazy to trade one for an elite WR... But with Foster being banged up, and if you start one at flex then it would be nice to have a good 4th... You can definitely afford this trade... Especially in a 10 team league(which I assume you are in)

Now, I have 2 problems with this trade

1. The timing makes no sense since both players have a bye next week, this trade does nothing for you next week, nor does it help you at all with bye replacements, so it is only an even swap...

2. Thomas has not done much this season yet, and might not be the number one that he was drafted as while Benard will always be a big part of the bengals offense... Not to mention Thomas looked banged up this week...


So either way making this trade now, does nothing... I would wait until next week to see what is going on with foster first!!!

With No flex and 3 WRs I would definitely trade a RB... But I would still hold off on this trade...

Also with no flex, there is no reason to have such a good RB 3... I would downgrade to a Lamar miller type, and get better all over...

I'd take Thomas for Gio. Unless you don't view him as your fourth RB. I do. And I view Thomas as a top 3 WR.

Actually Smitty I would consider Bernard my 3rd RB, I don't trust Foster will stay healthy all year.

I can see that. They both scared me for various reasons. Have you countered with Foster instead of Gio? Maybe toss in Cruz or Crabtree for someone you could use on a bye week. No Thomas this week with Denver off. (I think they're on a bye anyway.)

I would definitely counter before accepting... Especially since the trade as is doesn't need to be decided upon until next week... That's why this trade makes no sense to me... why would he offer a bye player for a bye player now?? Makes me think he is panicking about Thomas... you can probably get more from him!!!

He's not going to take Foster who just missed a game with a bad hammy. This is a league I have been in for 18 years and because I have done so well people shy away from trading with me.

But he does seem like he is panicking... You have nothing to lose... If he wants this trade offer him it again next week... Nothing would have changed...
