Brutal opening 40. 22 on the road. I'd settle for 18-22 and no injuries and then just take it from there. i think we're going to see what we're made of very early in this season. Just don't want to see anything resembeling a meltdown (15-25 and worse). That would make for a very difficult road back. I'm thinking the key for us in the opening 40 will be injuries.

I think .500 ball...and hoping for more. It would mean much to start the season hot through a difficult stretch...

That won't cut it, IMHO. If we are 18-22 there, we will be 6 or more games out of a playoff spot, and in a crappy mood as a team. People will start pointing fingers, laying blame, and wondering what we can get for Sandoval and/or Lincecum in a trade.

Yes, this is a tough stretch, but we need to get out of the gate strong. If we are going to be better than these teams, we need to show it early. Let them come from behind. We need to be at least above .500 here and likely better.

20-20 would be a good result. 15-25 would be unacceptable.

I'm not so sure, these guys are vets now with rings, they understand how long the season is, how quickly it can get in a groove.

I think as fans we want to be able to relax early and at least see how good they can be right away but it's not required that we do. Here's hoping though, save us some ulcers.

40 Games. 10 vs. the Farging Doyers. Predictions?

Lots of Variables, is Kershaw going to make 3 starts vs the GMen?

Will Pablo keep his weight down? Or will his waist line bloat up like the rising temps in Spring?

Besides Scutaro, Affedlt, which other Giants will be injured this month?

I'm guessing Giants surprise a bunch of folks early on, 25-15 isn't out of the question if all the cards fall in place, but I'll take a strong finish vs a strong start any year.

Oops! Four games vs. Arizona.

I'm with tzill. Hoping for a decent start and no major injuries.

Bump.

Looks like we'll do at least a little better than 20-20 through the first 40. Pretty good team we have, and that's with Panda giving us nothing and Belt no longer getting on base (but at least hitting one far at a good clip) and Scutaro out. The bullpen has been ridiculously good, and so has Morse.

Yeah I'm pleasantly surprised with Morse. So far so good on the road trip.

TKelion had the Giants at 18-9 through 27 (actual 16-11).

TKelion had the Giants at 19-11 through 30 (actual 19-11).

That's darn good prognosticating so far!

Actually with the recent strength of Miami and Colorado, our schedule stays pretty rough until Minnesota comes in May 23. 48 games will be in the books by then.

20-13 predicted (missed a game somewhere, ah, the Arizona series), and 21-13 actual. I changed your AZ prediction, so you are now dead on, sir, at 21-13.

Buy your lottery tickets!

This was one really good guess. If tonight finishes as it is, the Giants will be 25-15 through 40 games. May TKelion's tribe increase!

Thank you :suds:I am just happy that my optimism was deserved.Belt is on the shelf and the starting pitching is suspect. We have had some nice come from behind victories.121 games to go so just hoping for more of the same.
