not exactly true... but lets just agree for argument sake... if his prime is similar, but his prime was shorter, and his accolades are super low... just one MVP and 0 WS rings.. how does he have such a legend behind him??

hell, he was a 90s player, and he wasnt even the best 90s player... he just was the cleanest....

i am convinced that his legend is the fact he made it clear that he was a Yankee hater...

Bonds was always better than Griffey, I'll give you that. But Yankee hater or not, he was extremely likable, had such a sweet swing and was one of the best defensive players of his era. Maybe I'm overrating him because I was a kid and my team stunk from 92' to 00'.

He was insanely likable. He was my dad’s favorite player, and he wasn’t a baseball fan.

But that doesn’t make him a great player. Will Clark had the most beautiful swing I ever saw. He ain’t getting my vote. Andrew Jones played at the same time, and he was a MUCH better defensive CFer while still swinging a potent bat.

I will acknowledge that Griffey deserves a bump over both Pujols and Foxx both because of his position and because of how well he played that position. But his numbers aren’t even close to those guys. And neither Pujols nor Foxx bring the personality issues that Bonds, Clemens, Cobb, Rose and others bring.

You are allowed to vote for your “favorite” player here. I specifically left the definition of “best” vague. But just admit that you are voting on feels and not numbers or playing ability.

I have yet to vote for him. I can just see why people would.

Personally I would put Pedro and Griffey at 4th and 5th per this list, but that's just me.
Also Griffey had 2 seasons that were similar in 97 and 98, yet the WAR was 9.1 and 6.6. One reason I don't like to use WAR when comparing players.
