Those same 5 stars are performing for Les Miles and Nick Saban. Brown just doesn't motivate ya and has that damn stupid clap for everything good and bad! I hate it.

There's some truth to that. But he also motivated those same kids to 2 NC appearances, a title, and 3 BCS wins. You can't have it both ways man.

SOME kids are not coachable. It's Mack's job to figure that out before they get here. He's done a bad job of that recently - the 08 and 09 recruiting classes were nearly completely busts. That's on Mack.

Texas is in a bad funk. 5-7 now 7-5. Going to take a conference title + bcs game next year to save mack's job or he is forced to retire I think.

I don't agree although that should be the case. Dodds is never going to fire Mack. And the fact is, he's doing a very good job of rebuilding. They played 25 freshmen last year, and will come into next season with most likely the best defense in the conference. They'll have a dominant running game with 3 legit stars in the backfield. They are LOADED with young talent. If they can find a QB that can just MANAGE the game, that team is a contender after next year.

I found this from a couple days ago....

Been reading a thread on SoonersIllustrated that suggests(because of a tweet from former CB Marcus Trice) that Stoops is starting to shake things up. However, there appears to be some fallout because of this. The players don't want to do the extra work he's making them go through and there are reports a lot(like 6-7 players) are quitting.

if players are quitting because of hard work then shame on them. Whata slap in the face to the walkons of that program and others who bleed for that team/program.

They have already quit. The rumors I heard where there was infighting in the coaching staff and no locker room unity.

I really have no idea. But we're seeing a ton of this in Austin too, in terms of transfers....but they're all 3rd/4th string guys.

I guess losing to Baylor, Tech, and getting destroyed by little brother REALLY got to Stoops, eh?

I'm sure when you are used to winning the conference every year it doesn't set well. And they where preseason #1 to boot. Things really didn't start to unravel until Broyles went down. Since then things haven't been the same. I just hope they can get Mike Stoops back in here quick.

I'm very curious, you don't see this kind of thing happen at OU very often. This YEAR has just been crazy, 2011 was without a doubt the craziest year in sports maybe ever.

No it wasn't. Not even close.

2008 was the best sports year I've seen in my 23 years.

Really?

We've had realignment issues TWICE this year, two conferences nearly collapsed, Penn State, Syracuse, a BAYLOR player winning the Heisman, no OU, Texas, OSU, Florida in the BCS, a rematch in the NCG.......WHAT season has had more craziness than this one???

6 players and counting, two RBs, most notably their star recruit Brandon Williams. There are rumors of a full scale mutiny online FWIW, I personally think the Martinez and Venebles chickens have come home to roost.

Brandon Williams - Has skills, but known fumbler....Max Stevenson - injury, tore his pec and shoulder, not healing rightJosh Aladenoye - Moved from OL to DL, Freshman playing over himJames Haynes - Mom said it was a rumor...but hasn't touched the field
Jermie Calhoun - 5th string RB, overtaken by walk-on Jonathan Miller - 6th string RB, overtaken by walk-onAny OU fans want to shed light on what the hell is going on? There are some disturbing posts from alleged parents of these kids.

Both Calhoun and Miller turned in thier walking papers the third week when walk-on Waley became the starter. Brandon Williams may just frustrated, he is a known fumbler and I know fumbling hacks of Stoops so I imagine Stoops has been hard on him, and he is just like screw this....

From Jonathon Miller's dad(RB that just quit the team mid-semester). Interaction with posters on a message board.

Jonathan's Dad: my honest and humble opinion is things will be back to normal in Norman sooner than you guys think I urged Jonathon to go back and try to get on the team and had been trying to get him back on the team from the day he quit I kept telling him you never know what's going to happen. My kid is a good kid and very humble. The Sooner backfield will be fine and the coaching staff will be fine I think there just have been some things happen over the course of last year that has these guys emotional. The loss of a teammate is pretty devastating to say the least and we still pray for Box's family and continued strength:

Poster Response: "If it is Millers dad ask him why he would quit after having played and cost himself a year?----I wish him well but leaving at the semester would have been much better"

Jonathans Dad: I'll pretty much hold the answer to this question and somewhat answered it on other boards. I do think there was a bit more to leaving the team all of a sudden. Number one he has never quit at anything and it was very uncharacteristic. I know most want to start a witch hunt on the coaching staff I will NOT initiate such but will say it had to be something more going on. Whether it was my son or the coach I don't know for sure but something happened. I have researched and got some information however understand I only get one side of the story. Whatever it was that made him give it up was enough to go against something I have taught him all his life and that's to "never quit". I'm a pretty demanding father and this was more like a kid saying look I'll take this *** whoopin from you dad I'm out of here though.

Again this team will be fine this is a fine staff and I wish them the very best. We are still Sooners and big Sooner fans. If you guys pray..please pray for Jaz Reynolds a lot don't know but it's pretty serious and he's a good kid and comes from a good family. Some things are bigger than college football.

it sounds like Jaz Reynolds kidney injury is a lot more serious than initially thought.

Rivalry hatred aside; I hope he gets better. Kidney issues will cause him to drop weight, especially if he ends up needing a new one. Kidney failure is no joke.

There are always going to be failures from 5 stars. Those high school ratings are nice but mean nothing when you get to college. You have to perform. Some of WR's played against DB's that couldn't cover their mother.
