The Conference means absolutely nothing, maybe a few years ago, but when it comes to the Final it holds NO water. The Devils played the Panthers-Flyers-Rangers. The Kings played the Canucks-Blues-Coyotes. Those are both fairly even matchups, with the Kings *maybe* taking a harder draw. I'd take the "the previous games mean nothing now" excuse, but the Conference means nuttin.

Pix, was a swamp joke...

Paul Martin is Terrible

/That's no joke.

Don't want to derail the thread but the rumblings i have heard in Pittsburgh is that Shero wants to move him at the draft but he wants it to be a "hockey move", not a salary dump.

That said i think Martin could be a factor on another team, just not in Pittsburgh.

I just want that contract gone to be able help pay 87, 71 and 11...

Hahhhhh...you see, normally I'd pick up on that, but I'm pretty sure there's a few NJD fans who are being completely legitimate. To them, I direct their attention to that post :)

He's a good puck moving guy, a little splash of offensive ability, just a bit slower. He just doesn't fit a fast moving system, especially a physical one.

I disagree. The last three teams to win the Cup? All beat the Flyers in the playoffs. You are more likely to beat the Flyers if your team is in the Eastern conference, so the Eastern teams have an advantage. There is no challenging this clear cut logic. The only system more reliable than defeating the Flyers for predicting the Cup champions is NHL video game simulations. I set up a playoff bracket, and play through the individual games, flipping a coin to determine which team I play as for each game, and creating a new, smaller playoff bracket after each round of the playoffs ends. So far this year I am 0-81-2 at coming up with the same result as the actual game. (The 2 is there because I'm on game 4 of the finals whereas real life is only up to game 2). Seems reliable to me!

(PS: The Devils beat the Flyers this year)
