TomHusker --I cut meself with a chop blade today

has this ever happin ta you ??

if so how did you clean out the chop saw grime and did you get stitches ??


the reason I did not PM TH is that perhaps you other fellars may of had this happen to you

Since you are typing and worrying about cleaning the saw, that sort of tells me it is not terminal.

From my vast experience of cutting myself open, if you think you need stitches, you probably do.

pops, what were you cutting with the chop saw? Typically you would use saline solution in a squirt bottle to flush the wound, but I don't know what substance you may have embedded. Did the blade shatter sending debri or was it a clean cut?

Eh, rub a little dirt in it and walk it off.

Never done it Pops. But, would recommend hot soapy water to clean the cut. If bleeding doesn't stop with pressure, see a doctor.

Antibacterial soap is not good for deep wounds. It's fine for an abrasion or shallow laceration. Tom's take on saline solution is a good one if you have some on hand. They taught us in EMT school that fingers rarely need stitches unless the cut runs deeply along the finger or it went down to the bone, but it takes much longer to heal without. Really, a good long flush of hot water most of the time will clean a wound, even when handling petroleum products. Let the finger dry in between bandages (not bandaids) and see if the cut will start to clot. if it does within a day you flushed it as well as you could. If not, go see a doctor. Knuckle bandages below and above the cut on the finger works well as it keeps the finger somewhat rigid but still lets it breath. AFTER clotting has started to show a scab, put some neosporin on it once a day and you should heal up fine. Just an opinion here pops but if it's a really bad cut don't take any chances and see a doctor.

Cut myself with a butcher knife a while back, a pressure wrap helped it to heal back together. I cut the finger right by the fingernail so I couldn't get stitches anyway.

Holy smokes ----

well... a week and a 1/2 & 1/2 ago

woke up at 2:00 am with severe pain in my hand --lurked and it was swelled up like a punkin
went ta first care first thang and they shoveled me off to Kearney Orthopedic for surgery ....asap

that little cut was hell fer me since then

the infection was great and I have been on and off work

I go tommmaaarrrow fer anudder check up ---hope they don't decide ta lop me hand off
