1969 USC at Nebraska. I was mad because OJ Simpson wasn't there, he won the Heisman in 1968.

I have absolutely no idea who else was on either team that day. I think the QB was Van Bronson, but I don't remember.

Obviously I could list players from 1970 season knowing they were on the team, I know Van Bronson was on the 1970 team along with Jerry Murtaugh(my favorite defensive player in 1970), Jeff Kinney, Jerry Tagge, Willie Harper, Rich Glover, Johnny Rodgers, Guy Ingels, Ed Perriard?, Jerry List.....

1983 Nebraska @ K-State

I was pretty little so I don't remember much about the game other than I thought it was so neat that so many Nebraska fans must live in Manhattan just like us. We had just moved there about 3 months before. I also got to go down on the field after the game and run around.

I don't think it was my first time, and it wasn't even a real game but the first thing I remember at Memorial Stadium was the 1996 Red-White game when they did the tribute for Brook. I was only 6 at the time but I still vividly remember understanding how big of a deal it was.

As I mentioned in another thread, my first game was in 1973 vs Kansas State in Manhattan. My folks, brother, and sisters drove down from Omaha. The place was painted red and NU won by 50+.

1968 Memorial Stadium Kansas State beat Nebraska with QB Lynn Dickey. I was only 7 at the time and I was in total awe of the experience. Off topic: Was there for 1978 Missouri heartbreak at the hands of Bradley, Wilder, and Winslow - forced a re-match in the Orange Bowl vs the Sooners and I was there also. Watched the throwin Somoan Jack Thompson, Chuck Fairbanks and Wazzu beat the Huskers. I was there for the cloud burst (Utah State) when the students body surfed on the astro turf. Was in Ames for the Blizzard, and watched the space shuttle ride piggy-back on a 747 and land at MCI - Kansas City while on the drive to a NU v KU football game.

I don't remember the year exactly, but it was against Missouri and we won. Lived in Papillion at the time and got a flat tire after the game going home LOL.

The following was NOT the first game I attended, but the most memorable from my first year at UNL. Nov. 25 1965. I skipped going home for Thanksgiving to attend the Nebr/ Oklahoma game. What made it so memorable was that it was so f**king cold. I had a sweter and a sweatshirt on ear muffs a scarf, a thick winter coat, and took one thermos of hot coffee and another of hot chilli and still froze my ass off. But it was good as we did beat the Sooners.

NU vs. Iowa State. I rode shotgun for the armored car that carried the game cash away after the game. We parked under the south bleachers and I had field level seats, right where the cheerleaders stopped to cheer. They had that hot little gal named Cookie. Very nice.

Oh yeah, got to see Gill, Rozier, Fryer, Steinkuhler et al in action too.

Sorry, unable to locate any pics. Might have to break out my "adult" reading material collection and see if she posed in any.

Did she pose in Playboy for "Girls of the Big 8" or something?

Oct. 24, 2009, Iowa State. Got tickets from a friend, got off work at 5 Saturday morning, busted ass to drive from Kansas City to Omaha to pick up my dad, then drove to Lincoln in time for the 11 AM game. Was close to the field in the south end zone, and had an effing awesome time, even though they lost. Got some cool pictures, and literally tears weld up from the emotion of seeing that field for the first time live after 42 years.

Memorial Stadium still has the 'PRIDE' effect on me when I see it full on gameday. We ARE the best in the country boys. No one will ever come close too our sell out record NOONE.
