Don't take a whole lot away from spring games usually, but getting to the 3rd string QB might not be a bad thing. Zaire, in the "find a way to win" drill was awesome.

Yeah that was cool.

Armstrong is going to be a star and Kellogg actually looked decent.

Tommy still has quite a bit of work to do. It was more obvious on some plays than others. A couple of times the option was an inch or two away from being a disaster. A couple of times he held onto the ball way way too long.

Another year behind a veteran should do him wonders. He'll also get some good experience in a few games this season that we should have in hand by the start of the 3rd quarter.

The Defense was extremely soft.....especially in the first half. Kellogg had all day to get rid of the ball and he had windows the size of semi-trucks to deliver it in.

Seemed like in the 2nd half we went more conservative on Offense so that the score wouldn't end up somewhere in the range of 50-45

Just saw Dwayne Johnson at the Omaha airport. The recruit not the famous one. Maybe we will be on the same flight

Tommy still does have quite a bit of work to do but he was already better at running the option that Taylor ever was

The option requires a certain athleticism that Taylor just doesn't have. It doesn't look like it does, but there is a reason that some QB's look real natural at it and others look like stiffs running it.

Tommy is a natural at it. He'll just have to get the feel for it.

First of all, to run the option effectively you have to have a QB who is a threat to "get around" defenders.....not to blow by defenders.

Gotta have a QB who can juke and make people miss.......make a guy think twice before committing to making a move on the QB. If Taylor doesn't have an opening then he gets trucked every time.

Also....Dwayne is impressive. Looks kinda small though. A legit weight training program will be good fer him that's for sure

Tommie Frazier used to literally pitch it at exactly the right time......every single time.

I swear he didn't even have to think out there, it all just happened however he wanted it to happen.

Not really fair to say Tommys better than Taylor ay running the option.. Taylors skill set fits more of a zone read option than a power/I option.. hes got better straight away speed and doesnt have the best moves to get outside. Hes just got differnt assets is all, and the ones he has are p damn good

Also i dont think a game like that helps a young D much.. splitting up the 1s n 2s and the such prolly screwed up communication, and resulted in what we seent.. that and it didnt rly look like they were tryin too hard, the game was more of a show than anything

There is also a whole aspect to it where the RB has to be on the same page as well.....there is a lot of timing/angle issues with the option.

Tom Osborne used to have that thing perfectly in sync. Rarely was a RB ever too far ahead or behind for the pitch.

The one play on Saturday where Cross went in for a TD was a very lucky one. He was too far ahead on the play and had to reach back and snag it with one hand.

Absolutely, the zone-read was made for Taylor. It is never going to fit Tommy the way it fits Taylor.

Hard to make an argument against it. The numbers speak for themselves. Taylor isn't playing defense.
