tilly should be 18 wins at the very least already . he should get 6 more starts 3 8 13 18 23 28 so he has a long shot for 20 wins
only one been better since his call up last year is the tiger schers spTillman has been really good since the AS break. He would be my top choice. Norris has been pretty solid also.
Should they somehow squeak into the WC game I'd want Norris or Tillman, I'd be nervous with MG or Chen.
if you play the tigers you start britton game 1Agreed with your choice-- as I've mentioned in another thread, the relative ranking of our 5 starters right now (based on second-half ERA and WHIP) is Tillman - Feldman - Norris - Chen - Gonzalez.
In the event that we get beyond the Wild Card game, though, it's theoretically possible improve the team's chances for a postseason series by adjusting the starting pitcher match-ups. The idea is this: If the other team's rotation order is known, you could use your #4 starter to face the other team's ace so that you could have favorable match-ups three-fourths of the time (i.e. #1 vs. #2, #2 vs. #3, and #3 vs. #4).
Assuming that (a) there are no upsets, (b) no one pitches on short rest, and (c) your team's offenses and bullpens are roughly equal to or better than that of the opponent (which is a big if), this strategy would almost guarantee winning a 5-game series in 4 games (L-W-W-W) or winning a 7-game series in 6 games (L-W-W-W-L-W).
