I have some empathy for that fan, but none for "fans" (and I use that term very loosely) that burn Winnipeg Jets merchandise and carry signs that have slashes through the Canadian flag. How many days did Thrash the mascot spend in jail while the team tried to sell 5,000 tickets? It was more than a few.

History has recorded that the Atlanta Flames did not win a single playoff series and that the Atlanta Thrashers did not win a single playoff game. Somehow that's befitting for a city that's regarded as one of the worst sports cities in North America.

By the way, if you think I'm just talking out of my ass and that I'm a know nothing Canadian, I lived and worked in Atlanta for 18 months and have first hand knowledge of media coverage in Hotlanta. Hockey is an afterthought down there and always will be (Nascar and golf get more attention).

I know what you mean dash. I've been to Atlanta many times and it's not a good sports town, but I always feel sorry for the true fans when they lose their team but if the city will not support them it makes no difference and the team should move.

Our area has no where near the population they have down there but we at least still have very good attendance for shitty football teams and mediocre hockey teams. Shit even our indoor Lacrosse team plays in front of 16,000 + fans and a lot of the games sell out.

To be fair boss... its indoors and probably heated.
That's a no brainer in Buffalo. :-)

True but the Georgia dome has AC and when the Falcons sucked you could swing a dead cat around that place in every section and not hit a fan. :)

I'm in that camp that while I feel a little for true fans in any market, I can't have a lot of sympathy for the overall situation in Atlanta because they never seem to care when it matters. Only after the fact. Ownership is always a big issue, for sure but Atlanta is just mind-boggling and it isn't just hockey in the south here. The Hawks, going into the last home play-off game with the Bulls still had around 3000 tickets left (according to ESPN) the day of the game. The Braves were in the play-offs last year and Turner Field is a nice park yet one game earlier this year they had fewer fans than our Mariners. Even the NFL's Falcons got close to black-outs a couple times last season even though they had the best record in the NFC.
