Howe has point about policing + 30 Thoughts | Hockey | CBC Sports

I certainly agree with Mark Howe, though.

funny
8. Those Fedor Tyutin/Evgeni Nabokov trade rumours were insane. Tyutin's part of the solution, not the problem, in Columbus. Here's what happened. After Thursday's loss to Chicago, the team asked Tyutin and Kris Russell to stick around. We all know now Russell was traded, so somebody assumed Tyutin was gone, too. The Blue Jackets actually asked Tyutin to stay in case they needed to talk to Nikita Nikitin, who they got for Russell. Nikitin doesn't speak much English.

I agree with Mark Howe, but not Elliotte Friedman. Not to be an ass and go OT, but the Bruins did not win the Cup by seeing just how many rules they can break. Kind of a ridiculous statement. However I am completely behind Howe's statement. There is no accountability anymore.

For sure the Bruins earned the Cup in many other ways (I don't think Friedman is suggesting this was their entire game), but the Bruins did push the envelope and fatigue the refs to a degree.

They're not alone in this. I can think of a few teams in recent memory that have done this. The 2007 Ducks team was brutal, they pretty much let themselves take more penalties than anyone else just so that they could get away with even more stuff. They were MUCH more obvious in this strategy than the Bruins. The 1996 Panthers also come to mind.

It's a smart strategy. Refs are human and rarely will you see a ref give 12 PPs to one team and 2 to the other.

no they did not Jeff but once they figured they could do what they did. its totally turned teh series. its was VERY much a part of the reason why they won. Vancouver just turned the other cheek and hoped that hte PP would save them.
