No more #1 in power rankings...... No more Vegas oddsmakers make Bengals SB favorite.... No more Hue worship from the local media.

The Bengals played like the Bengals play in big spots. They stunk. The world is not a confusing place.

Maybe now I can go back to posting pictures of Marvin Lewis without being told what a great coach he is.

That guy looked like he was stoned last night. His defense looked like it didn't know a team was allowed to run a no-huddle.

The joke is on us for thinking things might have gone differently.
I knew as soon as the Chiefs got a big lead this week that last night would be a bloodbath.

To be fair, I'm not sure the Seahawks win in NE last night. Over the past few years the Patriots don't always seem motivated -- When they are, they can really take it to you quick.

I don't think we should make any rash judgments about losing to NE -- But some of the old warning signs were certainly on display and we once again looked like a deer in headlights on national television. Not a good show.

they have another speed when it comes to preparing for and executing big games. The Bengals do not. that's basically it in a nutshell. it's exactly why the Bengals don't do well in the playoffs. no culture of success. no expectations to do that well, in spite of the talent we have.

I have a legitimate question...

Seeing as I don't live in Ohio, I'm not familiar with the local sports media, nor do I get to listen to Marv pressers or listen to local talk radio. My question is, how does the media talk about this Bengals team? Are they critical? Are they apologetic homers? What are Marvin press conferences like? Does the press go after him or is it all softball fluff questioning?

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect from the Pats last night. They were off the first 3 games and got rolled in game 4.

Last night was ridiculously bad. I have absolutely zero respect left for Marvin Lewis. I'm done with him. I'm done Gresham and Brandon Tate too. Not one person on that sideline looked like they even had a pulse, let alone cared enough to be there. I understand the Patriots were set up for a redemption after being bullied by the media for a week. But the Bengals could have at least showed up and made an effort. Guenther should be fired for that defensive atrocity last night.

I wonder the same, as I am not in the area.

And your over-reaction of the week award goes to BK!

I've largely been supportive up till this point. I might be overstating a few things, but I didn't see one thing last night that indicates this team or coaching staff can handle the spotlight. I'm tired of looking like shit everytime the lights come on. In the same fashion everytime no less!

That may be, but what can YOU do about it? The only thing you can control is you. If you are tired of the team looking like that on national tv, don't follow. Don't be a fan. Follow another team, or don't. Whatever. The bottom line is, though, no matter how much people complain, nothing is going to change. The team, and the coaches, aren't changing. Either ride alone and hope for the best, or hop off the bus because it's the only thing you can control as a fan.

Look. They're 3-1.

They had a stinker. Yeah, it sucks, but it's still only 1 of 16 regular season games.

One game doesn't erase the first 3 games as if they didn't happen.

I'm not in town but I do read the local news sometimes and I often read Marvin's pressers because I have an odd sense of humor. Marvin's relationship wight the local media is often combative. They ask him legitimate questions that many fans would ask and Marvin gets tired of hearing them so he behaves like he's bigger than the media and they are just to dumb to understand. In some cases this is funny and I don't blame him.... For example, he had to deal with Joe Reedy for a number of years. Reedy was a self-important, Browns-rooting, douchebag.... And I don't blame Marvin for disliking him. Paul Daugherty likes to be a contrarian at times and is actually much more tolerable to read when the Bengals stink.

The other sources of media are Bengal owned..... Obviously there is Hobs.... But there is also Lapham (Bengals owned because he's the Bengal color guy) and Hoard (another Bengal radio guy). These three (Hobs, Lap, and Hoard) make up the propaganda machine of the Brown family.

I think some of the local radio guys are fair and balanced. I don't always care for Lance McCalister, but he generally provides a good viewpoint.

Looks like we've already reached the point in the season where we pull out the "if you don't like it, stop being a fan" routine.

Why? Isn't it fair to complain about Marvin's track record in primetime road football games? He's the only common denominator left since 2003.... His players have changed, his coordinators have changed, but our team's performance remains the same. I get that he is trying to change it -- Moving around practice times, etc..... But it hasn't worked yet. And moreover, it's not just the losses but the fact that his team looks totally unprepared.

Through the first three weeks of the season I would say there wasn't a team that looked as well prepared as the Bengals. They were one step ahead of each of the three teams they beat for most of the three games. Last night was a train wreck -- And you can't blame people for being angry about it.

No, it's not the point where you tell people to leave if you don't like it. I was simply pointing out how ridiculous it is to make a statement that "you" are tired of something, as if you have control over the situation. I was simply making a point that following a team is the ONLY control you have as a fan.

However, it goes right along with the purvasive reaction on this board to anything negative that happens...chicken little. The sky is falling. I mean, who is really surprised the game turned out the way it did? I'm not. I saw it coming. Even said as much on the N.E. board...Trifecta of terror: Coming off a bye, in N.E, on SNF...it was bound to work against them because history says it would.

As the Patriots were saying just before us last week. We are 3-1, we are still leading our division, it doesn't matter if we lose by 1 or 40, it counts the same. Granted, much much more embarrassing, but that is the nature of the beast.

We got behind so quickly and fast that we couldn't even hardly use the run game.

I have never in the last 5 years seen our defense look that bad in every aspect. DL, LB's, CB, S, run support, pass support, communication, preparedness. It was all around, the ugliest game I have seen from our defense in a long time.

Gresham keeps doing his thing, dropping perfect passes and making the hard catches (although he didn't even do that last night), and is Tate maybe the worst damn special teamer in the NFL, or is that just me because I hate him so much?

Anyways, we deserve to drop to 10 in the power rankings. It was obvious we were in trouble, but like someone else said, it would have been nice to at least show up.

In the end, we are 3-1 leading our division, with hopeful anticipation of Burfict, Jones and Zeitler this next week against Carolina.

As I said, I don't think it's too big a deal they lost. I don't think it has much impact on the type of team they can be for the rest of the regular season.

But it stinks... It's a problem that we don't show up at all in these types of games. It's like having offensive line issues and never drafting a lineman.... Sooner or later you get frustrated seeing the same problems holding you back. And I think it's everyone's sense (right or wrong) that this team's mental toughness in big spots is what holds them back. So no, I'm not disappointed they lost - I'm disappointed they got hit by a truck. I had hoped this season would be a little different in that regard.
