In the end this can be a blessing, it's gonna force the M's to use young guy's and build depth... then eventually those guy's come back and we have a deeper better ball club... Looking on the bright side ...
Certainly not in the pitching department and not a team with the expectations they had coming out of spring training. For some of you old timers, has there been a Mariners team as ravaged by injuries as this one?

The farm system is bad. They don't have anything that resembles the options that solid programs have for getting through these things.
Haven't checked in a week or so, but last I saw the M's had the most players on injury status in the majors as well as the most number of pitchers on injury. However a few others have had nearly as many and not faced the same amount of drop.

Not in quantity. They have had some major players go down (Griffey, Edgar, etc), but never this many players at once.
But truth be told, I am not sure how well we would be doing even with these guys. King is a .500 pitcher at best these days. Kuma is a soft tosser being held together by glue for a few years now. Smyly is an unknown since we never got the chance to see him. Paxton being the only real loss in my book. Some of the replacements have done at least as good as the guys they replaced in my book. Some good, some really bad just like the ones they replaced minus Paxton.

In theory yes, unfortunately the M's don't have any depth. If anything, this barrage of injuries only proves how desperately in need of prospects the M's farm system is.
Sadly, I think you're right, which is a dam crime considering all the top prospects we've had opportunities to draft over the last decade and a half ...
