Put them on the list of people likely dead within a decade. Maybe I just don't need the adrenaline rush, but I don't love doing anything enough to die for it. People, sure. Fucking hobbies, no.

This guy (Alex Honnold) is even more nuts. I can't even watch this without my palms breakout out in sweat. His abilities are RIDICULOUS, but he WILL be dead within a few years... 60 Minutes Piece on Alex Honnold

Swimming (or more factually diving) with Great Whites isn't really that dangerous in most situations. As long as you (the diver) don't replicate the movements of prey they won't bother with you.

That being said I don't think I'd line up to do it. I've been in the water with Blue sharks, Reef sharks and Hammerheads, but I don't think I'd be comfortable with Great Whites.

They can be. I actually didn't expect to see them (because of the season) and two ~ 9footers just came out of the blue.

They attack a few maybe up to 10 people around the world every year. Not maneaters, perhaps just aggressive/curious.

I've seen Bull Sharks from the shore and those fuckers are vicious. By far the most aggressive sharks.

I've been right next to the biggest shark species in the world as well. The Whale Shark, but even if you swam into their mouth they'd spit you out. ZERO danger around these 30-footers. They are filter feeders with no teeth. Coolest thing you'll ever see though.

no fuckin way i could do that. i swam with stingrays and they freaked me the hell out.
i accidentally stepped on a octopus off the coast of france, and i swam so fast to shore that i could have pulled a waterskier.

LOL.

I was diving with a guy once who let himself sink onto a stingray. Extremely lucky that he didn't get stung.

I stepped on a Cayman's (relative of the crocodile) tail one time. My cousin said I was under 10 seconds for the next 100 meters.

The underwater environment is just fucking amazing. There is so much we dont even know about our own planet. I wish I took more of an approach to marine biology or something. Always something that intrigued me, but the idea of more homework and actually using my brain in high school/college steered me in a different direction.

scuba diving is EASILY the coolest thing i've ever done.. i've been to the cayman islands a couple times, and gone diving in their 'stingray city'.. its VERY cool.. the stingrays are used to people being around so they just swim around you.. its really neat..

only shark i've seen was a nurse shark, and i'm not gunna lie, at first, i was shocked to see it.. after i warmed up to it (and the dive master went nuts in excitment) i ended up touching the thing.. it was pretty cool

night diving = terrifying though.. you might think its like going outside at night, but its not.. there's no adjustment to the darkness, its just completely black except for where your flashlight beam is.. very very spooky.. but the site in the sky when i came up was incredible.. i dont think i've seen as many stars as i saw that in my entire life combined
