On a side note, the most odd bit of trash talk I heard, while wearing an Ovechkin jersey to the Winter Classic was a drunk guy all up in my ear from behind yelling:

Well, no because Aaron Johnson will never be surrounded by Rod Langway, Al Iafrate and Sylvan Cote.

Kevin Hatcher was, game in and game out, a big oaf with questionable decision making and an apparent affinity for screening his own goalie and giving up 2 on 1's. He could score, and he could do good things. But for every good thing, he'd two two really stupid ones and someone would have to bail his ass out.

Case(s) in point:
1986 - 87 24 points, - 29.Playing on a defense with Larry Murphy (+25), Scott Stevens (+13) and Rod Langway (+11). Langway was HIS PARTNER. The next worse +/- on the team was Michal "What means skate backwards?" Pivonka at -19. Even Craig Laughlin managed to be only -3.

1990 - 91. He scored 24 goals and 74 points in 79 games. Great D numbers and would have him at the top of the league nowadays. Still -11. Rod Langway, at the end of his career, and 11 years older than Sasquatch, +12

1992 - 93. Scored 34 goals (!) and 79 points and was still -7. His Partner, Calle Jo was +3. Cote was +28, Iafrate was +15. Hell, friggin Dmitri Kristich was +29.

And that's Aaron Johnson. Can get a shot through and make some passes. But was -1 against Chicago but was directly responsible for screening the goalie on one PP goal and was OWNED on the shortie (3 of the four directly his fault). Tonight, the Ducks only goal came when Johnson got caught around the hash marks and the Ducks turned it into a 2 on 1. In fact the D man that was left to handle it alone had to cover the side AJ abandoned.

And I saw Hatch do that a ridiculous number of times.
