I'm curious to see how she will feel about Daryl. She forgave Tara for being on the Governor's side when he killed her father, but that was different. Her father would have died whether Tara was there or not. I'll be disappointed (but not really surprised) if there aren't at least some hard feelings there, even if only for a bit. She did seem quite willing to fight the Saviors despite the fact they have Daryl as a hostage. Not really sure if that means anything or not.

Given that they kidnapped Daryl probably means we won't see much of it but I'm sure she would have some resentment.

Daryl OTOH, man I feel really bad for him. He's alone and he has to live with what he did. It's almost going to be worse to see Daryl alive and being extremely depressed than seeing his brains.

Can't wait for this season to play out.

As the guy who usually defends the show runners, let me go against type. That was blood ****. Less is more. Even Tarantino knows this, as he cuts away from the strikes, and let's the audio and your imagination tell the story (or an extreme wide in Inglorious Basterds).

Did we set up Neegan as the new guy to hate on TV? Sure, but I say you could have done that without the caved in skulls.

Gotta disagree with you here. Glenn's bashed-in skull looked amazing. No imagination needed here. You can see what the characters see, and you can feel exactly what they're feeling.

It was a lose-lose. Always is with a show this size. You're going to upset people for showing it, or you're going to upset people for not showing it.

I'm in the "glad they showed it" boat.

I couldn't disagree more.

I am not a gore guy at all. But they HAD to show this. The image of Glenn with his eye popping out was too iconic from the books to not show here. I think if they went with the minimalist take, it just would have been a huge cock-tease.

As Stephen King has said many times "Go for the gross-out".

Watching a little bit of Talking Dead...the chick who plays Sasha seems to think she's on "Taking myself way too seriously Dead".

And my Rosita looks nowhere near as hot as her last appearance. But she ain't dead yet!

The chick who play Michone always has that attitude. She drives me nuts every time she is on. Not a fan.

But both Christian Serratos and Sonequa Martin-Green looked like goth clowns tonight. Just turrible, I tell you...

Like I said, I am actually not a huge gore-guy. I think history has shown that less is more (Psycho, Jaws..). But SOMETIMES, you have to show it. Without showing it here, the weight of the moment gets lost. This is an absolute in-your-face moment. Negan means business, and he is showing just what kind of business he means.

Nothing to lose his head over.

But that episode was a smashing success. Definitely earned an Abe+

Q: What is Negan's favorite band?

A: Smashing Pumpkins :pound::pound::pound:

The milking of good/bad puns and jokes for this episode is on, folks! :)

I'm glad they let Abe go out as the loveable dickhead we got to know him as.

Sure. I knew people would disagree. Fair enough. But from Hitchcock -------> Tarantino, there's MORE 'feeling' with your imagination than with it being shown to you. The shower scene from Psycho -------> the ear scene in Reservoir Dogs.

But we live in a 'Saw' universe now, so more is more. (now I sound like a 'get off my lawn! old guy)

At any rate, I don't think stuff like that should be banned, or anything. Just voicing my opinion. You can have Neegan be as hated by making 3 or 4 frame cuts, leaving the sound in. The emotional impact is the same or even greater.

The chase for realism will always have limits. We can see a character go off in the woods to do their business, and grok what's happening, without needing a closeup of the shit coming out of their asshole, or see the rash that they get in 1080p after using tree leaves to wipe.

I'm in the "glad they showed it" boat.

Here's the weird part though, I'm only talking about a few frames in the edit suite. Reservoir Dogs is the perfect example. You could have 100 people watch the torture scene, and afterwards, 95 of them would SWEAR that they saw Madsen cut off his ear.

But yeah, agree with your premise 100%. This show everything gets nit-picked. I'm usually annoying the shit out of everyone by explaining show budgets and why they do what they do. This time out, shoe is on the other foot, and they spent the extra dollars to CGI and practical FX the shit out of a couple of skulls.

Ah, see I didn't get that far with the books.

Cock-tease is a good metaphor though. That's why I called it blood-p*o*r*n. (fuck that's annoying I've gotta' do that for a word)

Because when I watch ****, I want to closeup to aid a finish.

TWD, isn't my cup-o-tea for stroke material.

:)
