Rewatching the ep now.

Another thing that bothers me is when the RV gets stuck, Rick fails to notice the giant wall right in front of him until Paul tells him they are there.

Rick, are you blind?

Yeah, and was wondering how they were barely on a "road" by most modern definitions...

That lends to a bigger trick they use. Everything is in the forest or on a country side road. Even though the show takes place in the DC suburbs which is rather well developed. No scenes on the coast or on the rivers.

I am OK with this, though, seeing as the show is filmed in Georgia. It is a TV show, and will not be perfect.

But yes. This place was a museum pre-ZA, so there should be decent roads and even a real parking lot. Let's ignore the fact that EVERY set is a stand-alone building. No malls, no non-city concrete jungles...

I watch the walking dead and I sincerely enjoy reading the posts on this thread about it. You guys certainly know WAY more not just about the comics, but about the show and I appreciate your insight.

That all said, I have to admit, I chuckle a bit when you start nitpicking about "this show about a zombie apocalypse isn't realistic."

They could just film early on a Sunday morning like Omega Man. lol

That's the challenge and the point. Make the unbelievable, believable.

Heath is a goner. Heath is portrayed by actor Corey Hawkins. Hawkins will be too busy for The Walking Dead.

Corey Hawkins is the new lead actor in the upcoming FOX TV series 24: Legacy (yup... no more Jack Bauer/Kiefer Sutherland).

It doesn't bother me really, just things that don't escape my notice.

Its just certain things that they really don't have to go out of their way for, or think too hard to correct...

Like someone says, "What is the purpose of the RV getting stuck in the mud?"... It served no purpose for the plot, and only serves to raise a bunch of other silly questions...

Yeah, he's almost irrelevant. We seen him in the midseason premiere for what, 5 seconds? I was hoping he was going to play a bigger role than what he has thus far.

While he is still alive in comics (sorry for minor spoiler), he isn't a pivotal character that HAS to exist in the show.

The actor has "blown up" since he was cast, so it isn't surprising that he won't be around for the long haul.

Yep. The silliest part is the whole concept of zombies themselves is, well impossible. Where's the energy come from?

And yet whether the scenery is too urban or rural gets minutaed to death.

Kinda' awesome really. Almost as entertaining as the show.

The suspension of disbelief is an automatic...a given, when dealing with a zombie show. That honestly has no bearing on critiquing the remainder IMO.

It's still a show worthy of water cooler talk. Just because the basic premise is rooted in fiction, doesn't mean that every other aspect of it should be unrealistic or untouchable.

This I totally agree with. The whole point of the show is that the unrealistic appears in the world of the realistic. But those couple of comments were still funny.

And whadda you guys mean zombies ain't real? You've never met my ex-wife! :pound:

Heh. Nice riposte, but in my defense, it's not even the idea of zombies, because if the canon were different, hey, maybe it could make sense. People get ill, want to eat flesh, panic and destruction ensue. But if we follow the laws of the universe, then eventually all the zombies die, because they run out of food (where's the energy come from to sustain their movement indefinitely?)

So, in order to enjoy the show or movie or book or graphic novel, then we have to opt in and accept some generally accepted givens. Zombies last forever. How? Nah, let's not bother, let's just say they do, and get on with the good stuff! The zombie killin!

This is the same kind of agreement that we have to agree to every time we watch an action movie. Bad guys can't shoot for shvt. If you wack someone on the back of the head, they'll wake up in 2 hours with a headache, not die of a crushed skull. Cars that run into other cars will zoom overtop. Cars that go up on the sidewalk will only do it where really really nimble pedestrians are, and they'll get the fvck out of the way. etc etc etc.

We just agree to all these, because the movies aren't any fun without them. (Don't get me started on martial arts movies!)

But that, ok, I'm along for the silly ride, somehow doesn't apply to some shows. And I can't think of a better example than The Walking Dead.

Where apparently people want 'The Road' realism, despite our deliciously fun but fvcking stupid starting point (zombies).

:)

Sure, but a mud puddle not being central to moving the plot along? C'mon now.
