There you go. I defer to your expertise.

Even popular big budget cable shows have died due to budgets being untenable. Rome being a great example. It was at the time the most expensive show every made, since dwarfed by GOT and others. At any rate, one of the big expenses with high end grahics is just rendering. If you're bored, read up on the 'render farms' used by Wingnut Films on LOTR, just to chug through the incredible processing requirements. Big big bucks. And that's not even the human cost to create the original FX.

Movies with 100 million dollar budgets tend to do this stuff well.

Lower budget movies scrimp on FX, and it shows.

TV, with fractions of the budgets, try to write around even needing expensive FX. Or pick their spots (ie the dragons in GOT)

As for the fireescape, I remember thinking 'Hey there's a ladder over there!' when they first showed it, but I could swear in another angle, they showed the fire-escape being blocked off with wood and debris. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I'm pretty sure.

It was blocked. But that would have been my FIRST try. For them to ignore it was just convenient writing.

Well I'd assume that in RL, you'd process the information that it was blocked and make the same decision they did, to keep running down the alley to find another way out. We as the audience are limited to looking through the camera lens. So the subsequent shot answered the question raised by the first (why didn't they climb the ladder?)

So I wouldn't even lay that at the writer's feet. If it said 'blocked fire escape' in the script, then it's up to the director to tell that to the audience without confusing them. (or the editor assuming that the director gave him or her the requisite shots. )

I don't know what would bug me more. The way Glenn appears to have died, or if they emplore cheap tactics to allow him to live, i.e. a dream-scene or something like that.

They wouldn't stoop to a dream-scene, I hope. That is the ultimate cheat.

If Glen dies then he committed suicide. It looked like he jumped after Nicks body.

I actually haven't really cared for Glen much since the 2nd or 3rd season. I liked him better when he was the geeky pizza delivery guy. I get that the new world changed him, and that he otherwise wouldn't have survived, but still found his transformation to be a less interesting version than his original self.

Having said that, any time a major character dies (let alone 1 of the few remaining originals) the show seems a little more empty for a time. Plus this one will really impact a lot of the remaining characters. It will be very interesting to see where they go from here if he really is gone.

Yea she is. This was her 3rd or 4th time on the show, and she has hit a home run every time. She totally rocks!

Not sure if it was by design or not but I found it interesting that she appeared this week with one of the producers from LOST. Last season she was on with CM Punk and he was so impressed with the way she broke down the show that he commented that he needed her when LOST was on.

He's definitely not gone.

I just hope the reasoning doesn't completely suck ass and I hate that they did something like this to begin with.
