Why does it need the F bomb? The show has worked well so far and I haven't missed that word.
Just to stay consistent with the comics. Negan is as associated with the f-bomb as he is with Lucile.

It doesn't need it. And honestly, it would make JD Morgan's overacting even more over the top.

Okay, Abe got bashed, but in my defense he would have been a really good worker for Negan.

Thing about Abe is that he was a tunnel-vision kinda guy. Once he had his mind set on something, that was it. And his mindset was that Rick was the Man.

Ooops. ;)

I think it may come down to how realistic they actually make the gruesome scenes appear. One way to bypass limitations in make-up and special effects is to use the imagination angle. I think if the gruesome scene is done well enough, it can actually enhance the emotional impact.

In this case, I think Glenn's bashed skull was done exceptionally well and looked amazingly realistic. My heart sunk a bit when I was able to see what happened to one of our favorite characters.

That's just my take on it. To each their own obviously.

I'm certainly not saying that it didn't look realistic. On a previous board, one of the posters went out with a bang, getting perma-banned for showing real pictures of dead bodies, including one of some Eastern European dude in a track suit who'd been head-shot by a .50.

The Glenn/Abe skulls looked pretty damn realistic.

My point is, that your imagination is actually worse than the realism. More horrific.

And absolutely, your heart is supposed to sink when a character you're invested in dies.

I don't want people not to be shocked. I love action movies, and more realistic scenes can indeed be incredibly powerful (see: Saving Private Ryan).

So it's not the violence I'm disagreeing with, I'd just have been in the editing room arguing for using wides, or cutting away quicker to reaction shots. As an editor, I guarantee that they spent more time on that scene than almost any other they've done in the history of the show.

So to paraphrase, less is more. :)

In JD's case, yep. And while I agree that they had to show Glenn's eye-popping mug (and I also thought it was pretty cool), I do think they went overboard on the bat pounding after the fact...the point was made already.

lolzzz, yeah just a bump on the head...

I have to admit there was a small part of me thinking that Negan was going to let Glenn "live" after the initial skull bash. Was like, "WOnder if they can fix that eye?"... LOL!!!

Ok, I've changed my mind. Overacting or not, JD Morgan is really really good. That Carl's arm scene is freakin' brilliant.

i think next week is going to be a good episode as well. looks like it will be delving deeper into the saviors and how Neegan's group interacts internally

Really good episode. I am surprised that they gave us Ezekiel's back story so fast, but I guess they couldn't drag the whole royal thing out a spoiler long as they did in the books because it was just too ridiculous. I like that major change.

And I SUPER-approve of Carol turning into Michone. It makes total sense.

Just finished watching - yeah, Ezekiel was spot-on. Decent enough episode once you get past the post-opener letdown.

The tiger is, as expected, way cool.

Not being a "comic guy" I did think it was a bit slow, but forgivable after last week and obvious that this is information that needs to be given to us regarding Ezekial, etc...

At first I was like thinking that this group were a bunch of LARP'ers who were out having a "battle" when the apocalypse hit and just stayed in character...
