Did anyone else notice at the end of the episode, one of the Saviors stopped to take a picture of Glenn with a Polaroid? Goes back to when he saw those Polaroids hanging at the Saviors compound that they stormed.

I noticed that too. sick huh? I think from last year and the coming attractions for the season we can get a good idea where this is going and it should be good.

I don't think I saw that part.

I believe Rick was kneeling in the foreground, looking down at the ground. A group of saviors is walking away and one stopped to take the picture. I had to rewind it to see if I saw that right and when I saw him shaking the Polaroid after taking it, I remembered the wall of Polaroids at the compound that Glenn saw.

This show generally doesn't do "doesn't mean anything" types of stuff. Those kinds of details are what makes it great.
But he also saw everyone in the line up get luciled.

He was just imagining the Sunday dinner scenario that Negan said didn't exist anymore. In that utopia, Glenn and Maggy had a healthy baby boy and Abe and Sasha were expecting. It was a beautiful day with no walkers and the birds were probably chirping.

We'll have to wait and see, I guess. But for now, it's fun to speculate on signals that may have been dropped.

I agree with @calsnowskier, that-that scene meant nothing.

He was literally imaging what Negan asked him?

fwiw, I thought that was the worst scene of the episode....reminded me of Happy Gilmore and Chubbs.

I got a question for book readers, and please put your thoughts in a spoiler tag...

What will the finale be this season?

Dwight offering his services to Alexandria? Although, I suspect they will kill Dwight and just have Darryl take over his storyline.

Or

Rick vs Negan, mano a mano?

Or something else?

For the half season finale (I still hate that B.S. that almost all the shows do now) I think "thought 1"

I think Daryl will push Dwight into helping Alexandria. There will be some conflict there probably, but somehow I think they'll end up working together, and Dwight is also how our group will be able to communicate with Daryl. The half season finale will be Dwight bringing himself to the Kingdom to meet Rick. I think the season finale will be the start of All Out War, and then season 8 deals with all of that

This entire show revolves around Rick. Mark my words, if they kill him off, it won't make it 2 more seasons before being cancelled.

Yeah Rick/Andrew Lincoln are the glue to this show. I was worried if Negan cut Rick's hand off, because even alive Rick with 1 hand would really hurt the show IMO. Dude is a boss.

And another thought about last night. Sorry about spoiler tag, but it is a HUGE comic spoiler...

anyone else catch Negan's threat to Rick to keep him alive for a couple years so he could see everything unfold? This was the seed being planted for Rick keeping Negan alive post-war.

I like that. But...

they just aren't focusing on the Dwight character enough, I think. Maybe he helps Rick, but Daryl gains favor at the factory enough so he is able to take charge post-war. Then, at the fair, his wanderlust needs to be addressed and he resigns. He could still have hatred for Negan, so his giving Lucile back to him would still have the appropriate weight (of course, that is 3-seasons down the line)

Episode was awesome, and to weigh in on the necessity of the excessive gore? Think it was necessary. As someone said, I think it puts you right there. This IS what they saw. Let's face it, most of us don't know what a person who is pummeled with a barbed wire baseball bat looks like. Imagination is fine, but being given that picture is more effective here IMO. I get the "less is more" thing, but I think the shock value here really worked well...

I also wondered how Maggie would react to Darryl, but now I guess we have to wait and see on that one.

No, Rick couldn't die here. By subjugating the leader, Negan effectively subjugates the entire group.

While I don't want them to go immediately into resolving this current crisis like they did with Terminus (They got out of that jam WAY too quick considering the buildup there)... I also don't want an entire season like they did in BSG where they were subjugated by the Cylons either... Preferrably one season setting up how their new life under Negan works before they begin plotting how to get out of it...

And here's a stupid question (Thanks to my wife...). Why don't they just fuckin' high tail it at this point and run off to Texas or something. Somewhere FAR away from Negan?

Interesting. There are a lot of directions they could go with Daryl. Such a wild card.

I fear that Daryl will be away for long enough that we will never get a Maggie/Daryl resolution, or if we do it will be so far down the road that it would be too late for any of us to care about.

There is no way this is resolved like Terminus was. Terminus was just a gross blow-up of a relatively minor group in the books (similar to the Wolves). Negan is a bigger foe than the Governor, and he lasted 18 episodes (1.5 seasons). I expect this arc to last AT LEAST 2 seasons.

I just hope it doesn't get as boring as it did at times with the Governor. I almost quit watching towards the middle/end of that arc.

For comic readers I'll use spoilers for those who haven't read

wont it be tougher to have Dwight and Negans storylines play out like the books? Daryl literally hates Dwight in the show and I can't see him ever wanting to work with him. Negan has also already inflicted double the damage.

I can see elements of what both of you are thinking happening ... i gotta think its a made for tv twist though because of the difference from the comic book ... and im gonna bring both your predictions together lol

we dont see Daryl much or at all during the season ... other than him being beat down at the hands of Negan ... we see more of Dwight ... we see his guilt and simmering disgust of Negan build ... we see him decide to help Rick and meet him at the Kingdom ... where in the half season finale we finally see Daryl ... and he kills Dwight for Negan ...
