It's raw, you donkey!
I don't think I have ever yelled at the television for anything other than a sporting event but when Carol's daughter Sophia came out of the barn, I yelled NOOO! IMO season two has easily been the best so far...
S1 was BY FAR the best season.
S2 was much better upon 2nd viewing. Watching it first run was too slow, IMHO. Still great, but slow.
I actually really liked S3. 3.1 was a GREAT episode. The ending was a bit strange, but Gimple was taking the reigns and wanted to handle the Gov arc differently, so there were a lot of re-writes that put the story into that situation.
So far, S4 has been meh. The whole illness thing, to me, just had the feel of filler. It had nothing to do with the ZA outside of the fact that society was gone, so a tiny sickness became an instant epidemic. Also, everywhere they went, the saw signs of the sickness, but the Govs group never ran into it? Anyway, 4.6-4.8 were very good episodes. 4.9 was slow, but important character development. I think it will hold up when we watch it again after a couple seasons go by.
I still love the show, but IMO the first season with Darabont in charge was by far the best, with season 2 not far behind. Still an avid watcher, but the thing that really troubles me now are the laughably cheap special effects. They seem to be getting cheesier each season.
Story-wise, I think it's been kinda up and down since then, but I did love the Governor's character. Believe it or not, I'm getting a little tired of Rick's moaning and groaning. I'm not a Carl fan, but the little shit does have a point.
