i just read on MHR the schedule release is tonight. I think the schedule release is probably my favorite off-season day of the year, even over the draft! Word is the Broncos will host the Texans or Panthers in the kickoff special. Any preferences?

Panthers but, I don't get appeal with our QB's being gone from last year. It took the rematch away right then.

Not to Panthers fans. They would probably love to see their team come in and spoil the season opener for the Broncos. Personally I was hoping for the Chiefs but it looks like that's not happening.

I don't think the league likes a SB rematch with the home team unveiling a championship flag and a celebration of what is already a painful loss for the visitors.

Houston makes the most sense with a dark horse being the Chiefs.

Valid point. Historically this game favors the home team, too. I'd much rather see a conference game, more specifically AFC West game, in a setting in which the home crowd and environment is going to make it very difficult for the visitors. Non conference games are important because all games are. But conference and division games are so much more important. I'd love to see the Chiefs or Raiders in the opener. The Chiefs because they've been our chief rival in the past few years (see what I did there?) and the Raiders because they will get a lot of hype going into the season while many will leave the Broncos for dead.

Either way we are just hours away so we will find out soon!

My money would be on Houston. They usually like both teams to have made the playoffs so that eliminates a big group. I also don't think I have ever seen them do a Super Bowl rematch week 1 so I think that eliminates the Panthers. Houston with the story line of them having Osweiler though makes a ton of sense plus having JJ Watt on national tv just adds to it.

I agree with a lot of the others that it will be Houston.

Raiders - Maybe, but I think their losing stigma will keep this from happening
Chargers - Nope
Chiefs - Good possibility, before Osweiler signed with Houston this was my pick
Falcons - Unlikely, not enough national interest
Panthers - would be a great matchup, but I don't think the NFL will force the Panthers to watch us celebrate winning the Super Bowl. That would just be cruel.
Patriots - Unlikely, they usually save this for later in the season, and with the prospect of no Tom Brady I think this is extremely slim. Who's going to get excited about a Sanchez vs Garrapolo qb matchup?
Colts - without Manning, this game loses some of it's luster. And the Colts are coming off a down season.
Texans - This is the best chance. Two great defenses to kick off the season, two playoff teams from last year, big starpower for the Texans (Watt and Hopkins), plus the return of Brock Osweiler to Denver. This is the best storyline, and will be the pick IMO.

Well, if Rich Eisen is to be believed, it won't be the Texans after all.

If it's not the Texans I'm going with the Chiefs.

And the first "leak" for opening week is out - Bengals at Jets.

Do you think when the Broncos unveil their Super Bowl 50 Champions banner Cam Newton will get mad and storm off the field?

Over the draft? That's liking a fg over a 70 yard td bomb or the boat ride over reeling in a 10 pound striper or the music playing over a " ten "stripper or....;)
