Those two NYG SB winners are probably as random as anything but the randomness in baseball is part of it's appeal.

We're still seeing the Dodgers and Astros every year but they don't always have to win.

It's been a lot of the usual suspects in the NLCS for the last two decades IMO. AL's been a lot of Red Sox/Yankees/Astros/Tigers and then a bunch of other teams.

Yeah, and the NL literally had a repeat. 2019 the Cards getting in was due to Yelich getting injured when he was on fire but the Braves could have easily made it three in a row. One could definitely argue against the idea that the Braves were random in any way. The NL just had its big regular season stories out West with one of its biggest rivalries and you had the Cardinals win a ton of games at the end there. Brewers and Braves kinda snuck in but they were both great teams and Braves ultimately the best.

I'd say the NL had something similar in 2015 when the NL Central was the division everyone was paying attention to because the Cubs really blew up and STL had some historic pitching that just sorta fell apart and Pirates had one of their best teams. The Mets got really hot and made short work and the NL Central had nothing to show for it.
