I read a good article about the Pens new facility known as the Consol Energy Center, and I thought I'd share it here:

A building to take your breath away - Bob Smizik's Blog - post-gazette.com

I'm really excited to take in my first game. Thinking it might be some time in November.

If anyone has read a good article, or seen images about the new building, post it here. I'd like to read it.

What's the capacity at the new crib? I'm a little surprised there isn't a mezzanine of some kind. It looks REALLY nice, but a little smallish.

I've read it's supposed to be around 18,000 for hockey. I've also read that when you're standing in line for a frosty beverage, all you have to do is turn around while in your in line to see the action. There is an un-obstructed view of the ice from most walking areas of the building.

I just hope it can be a LOUD building. That was always the #1 thing I heard from other players says about the old Igloo, that it was so damn loud in there, and that the fans were right on top of the action.

The capacity is 18,087.

I'll be checking out the new digs on the fifteenth, one of the season ticket holder open house days. My brother already got to tour the place with his accounting firm.

Was that on purpose??? The 87 I mean??

I am working on a project that involves the impact of the new arena on the surrounding community and I got a chance to take a nice little tour of the place (don't kill me Caps fans). It is fucking amazing and I can not wait to watch the Caps clinch the Eastern Conference title there in the next few years. It should be a lot of fun. ;)

i'm just jealous that a dirty rotten caps fan got there before me...*sigh* sadly it's not like i can just mozy on over and take a tour...although apparently everyone is getting that chance. :P and yes the 87 was on purpose. as well as the 66 luxury suites.

I meant it had been mentioned many times in many articles as the place was being built, long before any tours...

18,087 seems a tad small by todays standards for a new arena. I will assume no one knows if they will have standing room?

Oh...well as much as I like to listen to Stan and Guy and Scott Paulsen, I had not heard it. Usually when Chris Mack get's talking, like he does about the Pens so much, I stop listening so I can concentrate on shoving the grapefruit spoon in my eye to stop the pain.

i feel like a bad fan for not knowing, but if he hasn't had a haircut or a shave, hopefully he takes care of both of those after the game, and leaves his sweaty beard/hair all over the locker room.. only way to break an arena in
