Want to know why so many people on this board were so down on the team, organization, brand of tape used on the sticks?

The game in Ottawa was what this team is capable of. Not just as a once off.

Three zone pressure. Three zone puck support. Smart physical play.

Well said. This was the first truly strong game this team has played all year. Even the Edmonton game was full of glaringly bad plays and players, they were just fortunate that Edm is such a bad team. THIS game gives some reason for hope. Even if they don't play as well against a rested Pens team, there will still be a glimmer of optimism for now.

We may not be in the actual position yet, but this is a playoff team. I keep telling people. If we play tonight like we did last night, the Pens will be in for one of their tougher games of the season and they're struggling a bit right now. You wouldn't think they'd overlook us, but anyone that does is in for a long night.

To me, if we had great goaltending all along (which is something we've always needed), but our offensive production was struggling (which is something we've excelled at for years with many of the same players), that meant this was going to inevitably turn around.

Last night is how the Flyers should play, not just on the scoreboard but all the little things they did well

Last night was awesome. And very encouraging.
Voracek looks to have his confidence back, G is back. Streit looked great. All around encouraging stuff.
When this team plays like they did last night, they are without a doubt in my mind a playoff caliber team. I think what is separating them from being a cup contender is a horse on defense who can play all situations.
Also.. Steve Mason is incredible. This is the first time in my entire life (21 years) that I can remember watching Flyers games and have 100% confidence that our goalie is going to make all the stops.

And it appears that both Mason and Emery have been cut from the same mold. Both are playing excellent in goal and we have not had this in a very llllloooonnnngggg time.

It's a great feeling that when a shot is taken that you pretty sure the save will be made as opposed to the last two seasons when a shot was taken i was happy when a save was made.

We all know the talent is there. That was the first time this team played 60 minutes this season. I still have faith in this team and always will with my loyalty. Lets just take the season in 10 game stretches.

Assuming that 90 points gets a team in the playoffs which is likely in the weak East, the Flyers will need at least 77 points in the remaining 65 games. That's something along the lines of 36 wins, 24 losses and 5 OTLs. Daunting but doable.

Now they need to go at least 35-24-5.

Nah, we're in the Metropolitan. At the moment the third team in (the Rangers) is 18 points in 18 games, so we only need 83 points to squeak in.

God damn our division sucks. How bad does our division suck? If the season ended today, the Kings would miss the playoffs in the West but win the Metropolitan.

They're playing great the last three games. However, they sucked before that and we all know it and stated it. We weren't down as much as angry for their lack of heart and desire. Last 3 have been excellent and glad to be saying so.
