Back in 2006 my mom died the day after Christmas after a prolonged illness. We were all so thankful that God gave her just enough days to allow it to happen after Christmas day. I still miss her very much at Christmas time especially.

Top 10 Texas Rangers free agents of all time: Nos. 10-6 include Yu Darvish and, yes, A-Rod | SportsDay

I often disagree with Evan on his evaluations of players and this is no exception. His order is out of whack and there is no mention of Palmeiro or Zisk.

Raffy was first a Ranger because of a trade, so he doesn't really belong on the list per se. And Zisk only played two years as Ranger, so idk why he would be worth mentioning in a top 10.

And it makes sense that guys who helped get Texas to the WS are mentioned for shorter tenures.

My Mom was always my biggest fan and also a Ranger fan. Sorry about your Mom and hope you find joy this Christmas. Thanks for sharing

What a terrific idea.

Less than 24 hours after the Miss Universe gaffe that temporarily awarded the crown to the woman who came in second place, a minor league team has announced it will hold a "Runner Up Night."

The Frisco RoughRiders, a Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, announced Monday night that it has saved April 26, the second game of the second homestand of the season, as the day it will honor those who came up short.

The team said it will extend invitations to the runner up of the pageant, Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo, who wore the crown for mere seconds before host Steve Harvey noted that he read the card incorrectly. The team will also invite Harvey, who profusely apologized for the mix-up.

The RoughRiders will also invite other second-place finishers, including theBuffalo Bills of the early '90s, who went to four straight Super Bowls without prevailing, as well as Darren McFadden, who twice came in second in the Heisman voting, in 2006 and 2007.

"McFadden will actually be close to us for training camp with the Cowboys," said Jason Dambach, the team's general manager.

The RoughRiders do not sell single tickets until March, but they wanted to get people thinking about next season when it was still months away. Until then, Dambach said he is working on a couple of ideas, including hosting a beauty pageant in the park.

Is he willing to give the team that loses the "W" that night?

Said Dambach: "I hadn't thought of that one."

After realizing his error, Harvey announced that Miss Colombia had actually been the runner-up and that Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, had won. The crown was transferred as the show ended.

If the article was about top free agents who helped us get to the WS I might agree. I am thinking about individual accomplishments and not team accomplishments like making it to the WS. I am not going to lower how I feel about a free agent acquisition based on how the team played while they were here. If you substituted Zisk and Vlad in time then the Rangers would have still finished like they did. They would have went to the WS with Zisk in 2010 so I don't let things like that get in the way.

Raffy was a free agent the second time around so that should qualify him just as it qualified Kenny Rogers in Evan's mind. Evan has been known to leave highly qualified players out before and I believe he did it again.

Sorry to hear that... The first holidays are tough. Went through it 2 years ago myself with my own dad. In a way, it helped me to go through them so soon after his passing. Hopefully you're able to find strength with your loved ones.

Everyone be safe and Merry Christmas

Yawn... its an opinion piece and you're getting bent out of shape about it, moving on

I wouldn't really say I was bent out of shape about it any more than you were with me about me not caring for his list. You act as if I had criticized you instead of Evan.

It is simply my opinion that once again I disagree with Evan. I have read a lot stronger opinions on here about Evan than the one I expressed. I wasn't trying to rattle anyone's cage.

Judging by my response, its obvious I don't care much, just wanted to point out that it was much ado about nothing, considering it was a opinion piece and then you disagreed with someone's opinion about your opinion about an opinion piece, seems like a lot of work for no reason

That is what I thought when you first responded to what I said. Way too much effort for not caring. Maybe you just wanted everyone to know you didn't care. Hard to figure out. Oh well.
