Was just playing Elks trivia with MS (we're both past rulers of our lodges). Eleven o'clock (at night) is when we toast our departed brothers (and since 1995, sisters). Gen. Pershing, an Elk, picked the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month for the cease-fire. And that's why Veterans Day is on Nov. 11.
