Well, here's how I see it.

GG has a point about pit bulls. When not properly raised, they are extremely dangerous and aggressive, much more so than most other breeds. And a lot of idiots have 'em...rednecks, ghetto trash, dogfighting enthusiasts (who should all be taken out and shot, BTW). So I can see where GG was coming from.

On the other hand, 46 has pits and loves them. When properly raised, they are among the most loyal and loving dogs. I have no doubt that 46 loves his dogs just as much as GG loves Zip. So I can also see where HE was coming from.

GG's comments obviously struck a nerve with 46, and he overreacted. Called GG an "ignorant fuck" just for expressing an opinion. Not good. But...it was a controversial topic, and tempers were bound to flare up. Everyone oughta step back, take a few deep breaths, and stop pissing in each other's cornflakes.

I kinda agree with GG my daughter had one that turned on em .. it was the family pet for 6 years untill one day it bit my grandson .. she had a hell of a time getting that pos mutt to let go of the kids arm ... well me and puppy took a long walk in the woods with my 12ga magnum ...i was the only one that came home from the walk that day

How old was your grandson? Had they been playing rough? Or did the dog just turn on him out of the blue?

Did your daughter get the dog as a pup, or later?

Just asking. When you take in an adult dog, unless you really know its past history, you run the risk that something bad in its memory will cause a problem.

I used to have a purebred that must have been teased or abused by kids. It was friendly and gentle with me, but got scared and aggressive around kids. HATED kids...especially kids on bikes. Would try to chase 'em when they were a full block away, and heading AWAY from us. I always had to keep that one on a TIGHT leash.
