This was pretty awesome to watch. ALMOST as awesome as each Blackhawks anthem.

Just kidding, this was cooler.

I agree that this is how it should be. All about the flag and the words, not about the one singing it.

I hate when the singer turns it into a concert for themselves. I've seen them pause so the crowd can cheer them after hitting a high note halfway through the Anthem. I also hate when the artist is making it clear they are trying to show off their singing/music talent by making new versions of it. Just sing it the traditional way.

Agreed. A local DC columnist, Thom Lovero, has a radio show as well. He said the best thing I've heard about the anthem: "It's a fight song, not a ballad." This is so true. It's a song about a victorious battle, not knowing if we won or not, then realizing at the end that we carried the day.

American hockey fans > American wrestling fans.

Not bad though and a great job by the singer.

In fairness, that was September 13, 2001. Maybe a bit too soon to expect much more from the crowd given the magnitude of the situation.

Will leave this a sticky thread until later tonight. No entries in almost 24 hours but a nice thread and let's not forget the victims of the Boston Marathon.

Thankfully the fans in Saskatoon did not boo and helped her out at the end.

For some reason I can't help but feel bad for the poor girl even though it was her own stupid fault! I somehow doubt she was suddenly thrown to the wolves as a last second replacement. And if she was that was a bad move on the tournament co-ordinator's part. I'm sure there were many move qualifies singers available. I'll take a bad singer that actually knows the words any day over a good singer that does not.

That was painful to watch. I actually feel sorry for that girl.
