As explained in the Team-by-Team Thread, I am planning on making a thread every three days for a different team. The first few posts will be questions, requests for predictions, etc. There will be a poll unless I don't feel like making one. Some teams are less interesting than others.

Please participate in posting articles, predictions, etc.

So Far:

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...scussion/154953-san-antonio-spurs-thread.html - Defending NBA Champions.

The Miami Heat Thread - NBA Finals Runnerup.

The Oklahoma City Thunder Thread - Lost to the Champions.

I love the moves the Heat made.

Obviously, there is no way to replace Lebron.

But, Deng is a wonderful consolation prize.

Pat Riley has done a stellar job of retaining his guys and bringing in solid vets.

I'm not sure what Granger has left in the tank.

But, if he can give them 20 min a game he's worth the risk.

The one area they need to address, outside of getting a true starting Center, is a capable backup/insurance policy for Wade.

Stephenson and Evan Turner are to pricey. But, Jordan Crawford is well within their price range and the kid can score.

Depending on their final moves and if the young Wizards players, Beal, Wall, Porter, take another step forward, the Heat should still be top 5 in the East.

I voted them losing in the ECF, but they have made some pretty amazing moves and with a little luck, could be back in the finals.

Did you see this?

I need to look at their cap space.

I didn't think they had this type of money left.

Maybe they don't since this was pre-resigning Rio, Birdman.

JULY 12 UPDATE: With LeBron gone, the Miami Heat want to get Bledsoe, according to our draft guru, Joe Kotoch.

They don't have the cap space, they are spending cash like water. Wade's expected to get a 2 year and 40 million deal to replace the one he opted out of I believe.

2.7M exception could be available to them. Not sure if Crawford is an option at this price......may be someone they take a flyer on?? Heard Brandon Rush.

They'll be a top 4-6 team imo, it's still the East.

If his ACL is good, yeah.

Crawford is in their range.

Ira Winderman‏@IraHeatBeat

FYI, the Heat do have that $2.7 million space exception left. Has to be used on a free agent.
If I'm Heat and still have $2.7 million space exception, conversation would go, "Hello, Jordan Crawford?"

Ira Winderman @IraHeatBeat

To clarify confusion on Birdman: Heat can afford to pay him $5M because it doesn't have to count against cap limit, because of low cap hold.

This helps too.....

The Golden State Warriors are willing to facilitate a sign-and-trade deal for free agent Jordan Crawford because of their logjam of guards, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

Crawford averaged 11 points and 3.5 assists as a reserve for Golden State last season and scored 41 points against Denver on April 16. The four-year NBA veteran became an unrestricted free agent after the Warriors declined to make him a qualifying offer.

Bosh says his CB4 days from Toronto isn't coming back.

"CB4 is never coming back," Bosh said, referring to his nickname as a Raptor. "A few years later, I think I'm a much better player. It's funny, even all the way over here in Africa, people are telling me, 'We need CB4 back.' I can't be that. That's impossible."

"But I feel I'm a much better leader and a much better player, and I'm much more prepared for the role, the all-around role, that they need me to fill. That's exciting for me to really challenge myself and step up to the plate next year and make sure we get it done, no matter what happens."

Chris Bosh is ready to lead the Miami Heat - ESPN

They could still end up in the Finals simply because it's the East. Now, there are other East teams improving but there is no one team in the East that stands out as the powerhouse to beat like there was the last four years.

Certainly will be a fun Eastern Conference race this year.

I think if wade can be back healthy 100%.. He will lead the heat back to the finals... Now winning the finals vs the team that comes out the west will be the tricky part.. No team in the east matches up with those teams in the west... We'll see still more moves that can happen

The heat have made the playoffs with just wade on his own.... This isn't the west.... Miami easily makes the playoff this year.

Miami should easily make the playoffs. The Bosh signing was key. It would have been a big blow to lose both Lebron and Bosh.

A lot of people want Bledsoe, but the Suns have said they'll match any offer on him so idk why that story has been brought up more than once.

Or the Bulls, or the Wizards....

Lebron's relocation just made the East more than a 2 team race.

Miami needs to add a combo guard. Riley has done a wonderful job in the wake of LeBron's departure... if they can get another solid piece then I think they may surpass CLE and IND and only rank behind Chicago on paper. But that of course depends on who else they can add.
