Was the live action remake of Lion King actually a success? I was never, not once, even slightly tempted to watch it, and I don’t remember hearing any news about it when it was out.

its hard to be a success when you will be compared to the most successful animated musical, and one of the longest lasting Broadway shows....

so, the original remake had a lot going against it... nobody thought it was as good as either, not even close... but it wasnt a total failure...

This is at least an original idea within the lion king universe... if you remember there were other lion king movies, but it was Simba as an adult and how he raised his kids...

there was also successfull animated shows under the lion king universe...

actually surprised they never did anything with Mufasa before.... especially with Scar's past being such a mystery to how he became so EVIL...

so, i will claim that this is WANTED...

Yes, the remake was a huge/massive hit. The remake was, at the time of release, the 7th highest grossing film of all time, and it remains the highest-grossing animated film and musical ever.

true... we measure success by money... forgot about that since the reviews were all saying that it was NOT AS GOOD...

i saw it, and agreed with that sentiment...


But again, i am shocked that a Mufasa story was not already made since the lion king franchise had so many volumes...

i think there were 3 or 4 movies, 2 animated shows... and probably the most successful broadway play of the newer generation

For lion movies I’ll stick with Born Free, The Ghost and the Darkness, and Two Brothers.
