Band of Brothers
A Dreamer...trying to find my way home for dinner
Last night on a beautiful moonlit night God's team put on a dazzling display of baseball. God called up Tony Gwynn to replace a injured Ted Williams in the outfield. Gwynn stepped right in and went 5-5 hitting for the cycle and threw out the tying run at the plate in the 9th inning. Bob Welch started the game and went the distance getting the win. Third base coach Don Zimmer made some great decisions especially on a ball in the corner hit by Gwynn that scored the winning run in the 8th.
After the game Ted Williams was asked about his good friend and teammate Gwynn. Williams responded saying that it's tough being injured but if anyone had to replace me out there I am glad it was Tony. Gwynn said that it was great playing in Heaven and praised Welch and Zimmer for their contributions to the team.
After the game Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner was seen steaming down on the field. When asked why he was so upset Steinbrenner went ballistic talking about how God has all of the best of everything. Steinbrenner went on to say that it's just not fair that he has all the best players and managers on his team. He said that it's just not fair that Williams goes down and Gwynn get's called up and he beats are butts in. George finished up saying that the Heaven League is a tough one and said he will keep fighting to win the League. He finished up saying he was glad to be here and looked forward to the next game.
After the game Gwynn and Williams were walking side by side laughing up a storm talking hitting and about old times. Williams yelled out to reporters that he and Tony were going to dinner and not to bug them. Williams then said that this was Tony's night and we are going to celebrate. Tony Gywnn smiled and let out a huge Tony laugh . A great night at the yard.
