Man it was good to see Lincecum dominating today against the Brewers. He is back and he was nasty. Giants have to sign him and the price goes up each time he takes the ball until the end of the season. The Giants starters are rolling right now. It has me pumped up for next year. A nice win today. Now if we can get the bats rolling again 2014 will be a big year. Bravo to Tim Lincecum . Big heart Tim ....big heart.

Go Giants !!

Rock on !

Again, TODAY doesn't change anything for Timmeh, IMHO. This was against the Crew. But Timmeh has had a very nice year, considering way he has gone through the last year +.

I am, however, extra-excited about Bum. The frustration he showed yesterday about losing a game THIS year shows that the kid still has the desire and that all the early success has not spoiled him. He has taken soooo many steps forward this year, it is REALLY exciting.

I am anxious for tomorrow, though. If Vogey can go 6IP with 2ER, than I think we can be rather comfortable going into '14 with 4 SP (assuming we keep Timmeh). All we would need would be a 3 or 4 and the rotation would be back to upper-end (not quite elite, though).

So one start in August means nothing for Timmy, but everything for Vogs?

Really?

You don't see the difference?

Not exactly. Unless you mean you're comfortable with Tim already, and a good start tomorrow vs. the O's means Vogey is back.

If so, I'd argue we need to see a few nice starts in a row from Ryan. Timmy has pretty much convinced me that he's a solid starter again.

Pretty much.

Timmeh had been pitching well for a while. You posted some stats today in one of these threads spelling that out. So him dominating one of the truly anemic offenses in the game does not PROVE anything, even though it is nice to see.

Vogey was having a horrible year before his injury (save for the actual game he got hurt in). One of the reasons given for his drastic drop was that he was exhausted from the WBC. Now he has "rested" for 2 months and will be going against a solid team.

If he does well in that game, it is a strong indicator that he will be relatively OK and the 6M option will likely be picked up.

So I will say again...

Today did not mean much re: Timmeh but tomorrow COULD mean a lot re: Vogey.

Gotcha. I think the option gets picked up regardless, but I see what you're saying.

From MLB Trade Rumors:

Tim Lincecum is pushing his free agent stock up with his recent run of strong starts, but the Giants haven't initiated contract talks yet with the hurler. An executive cited by Rosenthal pegged a potential deal for Lincecum in the three-year range with a $13MM-14MM annual salary. Though that initially appears high considering the right hander's poor performance last year and at the beginning of this one, the qualifying offer the Giants are likely to extend will probably be in the same $13MM-14MM range.

Soooo....3/40. I think I'm good with that.
