From the above article, wonder if it had any influence on Scot in terms of evaluating Strong. Just a thought.

MMMD 2: Steep price paid for skipping Combine medical recheck

Jaelen Strong was a projected first-round pick until he was perceived to snub teams and fell to the third round. He skipped the chance to have all 32 teams recheck his wrist and I pointed out then how voluntarily missing the return trip to Indianapolis was unprecedented.

Skipping the medical recheck has the appearance of hiding an injury. He was cleared by a Texans hand specialist the week before the draft. A Steelers pre-draft physical also had him passing a physical. It seems he had nothing to hide but his no show at the Combine medical recheck likely hurt his draft stock. Missing recheck is the medical equivalent of skipping your Pro Day when scouts have travelled to see you.

I am not sure who okayed Strong’s absence from medical recheck, but it would be interesting to find out what advice came from the Jay-Z owned Roc Nation Sports agency that represents him.

cali obviously the Texans and Pitt did there home work on Strong .We didn't. Even if he was out for the 2015 season which he is not. He is still a value pick and gives us great insurance if Garcon leaves in 2016 or JAckson gets hurt. IF we were ready to take Cooper at #5 why would we scout Strong? Its doesn't make sense to me.

Strong had more issues than medical. Their were character issues as well. If you've been reading anything about Scot, character is a HUGE issue for him. I doubt he was even on the board tbh.

Haven't been following the ins and outs of this story with the Hawks 2nd round pick, Clark but this article is quite eye raising. Leads one to ask, did they just not want to know.

We all know STs play has been directly related to more than a few losses in the past 2 years. I couldn't be happier with the influx of potential talent in this area. With games being Won or lost on a single score, a solid STs unit could literally garner us 2-3 wins without improvement in play anywhere else on the team.

Excerpt

Special teams impact plays have a trickle down effect. If you can get a special teams score? That’s less pressure on your offense and defense. Get a special teams turnover? Another opportunity for your offense and one less for the opponents offense. Special teams has a huge impact on games, and more often than people realize, solid special teams play can be the difference between winning and losing, as well as good teams and great teams.

Special teams has been undervalued in Washington for too long. Look for that to change quickly under McCloughan’s guidence.
