Got to think we would lead the pack if the Magic decide to trade him. Do we swing Curry, Klay, and Udoh on a rental though? Guess it depends on the salary going out with those three. We'd be so fucked if he bounced. It would lead to more David Lee overpayments in free agency.

We could do Kwame Brown, Udoh, Klay, and Curry straight up for DH. Maybe throw in some 2nd round picks. I guess the starting 5 would be Ellis, Rush, Wright, Lee, DH. Would we make the playoffs?

Any trade that sends Steph Curry to Orlando as part of a Dwight Howard deal which does not send _avi_ Lee the other way is a bad deal.

I would trade Lee, Curry and Thompson for Howard any day of the week. If the Warriors convince Howard to stay they win. If he bounces and they get nothing for him, at least Golden State does not have to pay Lee any more.

As much as I want to see Beans disappear, no one will ever take on that albatross. He's property of Golden State until his contract expires or he is bought out.

Only way I see salary going out on our end is Ellis which would mean no Curry and Brown in the deal. Which probably means no deal.

I still think the Warriors need a third team involved to make this trade plausible. We don't have the pieces to move for Howard straight up and the Magic will likely want either Turk or Davis moved as well. Plus if we give up our entire team for Howard and take back a bad contract, it basically puts us in a worse position than the Magic, in terms of trying to keep him based on surrounding talent.

K Brown, Udoh, Klay, and Curry works for DH. We wouldn't have to take on a bad contract. Biggest problem is we are left with shit if DH walks.

I know that works out straight, but I have a feeling the Magic would want to shed cap space as well. I think this gives other teams the upper hand over the Warriors because of their ability to take on a bad contract.

If you were the Magic would you take a trade of Curry, Udoh, Klay and Brown straight up for Howard or get Lopez, Brooks, 2 first round picks, upwards of 20M in cap space and getting rid of Turks contract? Seems like a no-brainer for me.

That's too much for a rental. Orlando is not going to accept anything less from the Warriors for Howard and the Warriors are not going to trade away all those pieces without assurances that he will stay.

If the Warriors were able to remove Kwame and Udoh from the deal and add in _avi_ Lee, I think the trade goes through.

The biggest problem with that deal is that it leaves the Ws without a point guard. Since the Magic are getting Curry in the deal, Jameer Nelson becomes excess baggage. How about this:

Dwight Howard/ Jameer Nelson

for

Steph Curry
Klay Thompson
_avi_ Lee
Kwame Brown

I don't think this is anywhere close to the best deal for the Magic. But I think it's the best offer that the Warriors should be willing to make.

C - Dwight
PF - Udoh
SF - Rush
SG - Monta
PG - Jameer

Orlando:

C - Ryan Anderson
PF - Lee
SF - Klay
SG - Reddick
PG - Curry

I know it won't happen, but it should be the best the Warriors are willing to offer.

Supposedly the Magic would deal DH for Asik, Deng, Boozer, and a first round pick that came from CHA. Bulls won't do it because DH won't commit to them. Seems like Ellis, Lee, Udoh and a second round pick would be reasonable then, with no commitment.

Would never happen. There is no way he leaves $28MM on the table. Worst case scenario we'd get back talent in a S&T. And with West in the FO mix, I'm pretty sure we'd make out OK.

I'd give Orlando anything else they want if they take Avi in the deal. Much as I'd hate to lose Thompson it'd be the right thing to do.

He would not be leaving $28 million on the table. The difference between what he could get in the first four years of a Bird Rights deal and what he would get with a free agent deal is only about $3.5 million for a player of Howard's abilities. It's the fifth year that makes a difference. But if he signs as a FA, plays four productive years and then signs a max extension (he's only 26 right now and would only be 30 after the new deal ends), he would be able to make up most of the difference over the life of his new deal. For a player like Howard who already has $90 million in the bank, $3.5 mil is not enough to force him to play somewhere he does not want to be.

Dude will get his no matter where he plays. Plus, if he does end up going to the Nets, he will make BANK with advertising once the team moves to Brooklyn.

The first team Klay Thompson has ever played on where he was, likely, the worst shooter and best defender? That team would score 130 points per game with only 30 of them being in the paint.

LMFAO. Repped. They might score 130, but they'd give up 145 per game.

Also, I'm told the reported offer of Monta Ellis and David Lee for Dwight Howard did not happen.

I see what you're saying, but you're parcing words now. He'd be leaving $28MM guaranteed on the table and he won't do that. Downside risk (i.e. career ending injury before he signs a new deal at 30) is too much.
