Dick Howser has been gone A LONG time. That was the last time they had a really good one, IMO.
McRae and Wathan had winning records, but no playoffs
McRae might have gone in 94 if they hadnt had the strike

Who is that in the sculpture? His girlfriend?
The forced gift-giving is just so silly. Even teams that don't want to worship Mariano are made to.
fuck brian wilson
"Hey everybody, look at me. I'm weird."
Fucking asshat
Now THAT would be bullshit.

You call bullshit but don't explain?
I'm very, very disappointed in Dodgers fans for accepting this narcissist in the Dodger blue. It's a fucking joke to see him with the beard and uniform so tight you wonder how he walks to the mound. That act was the Giants trademark for years and yet the Dodgers are now saying they think it's cool too? That's bullshit. The Dodgers should have refused to sign that clown if they were down to Brandon League as closer.
Not saying they have not won since, but more that he was the last guy that really impressed me as a manager.
Although McRae could really destroy a phone when someone got him pissed.......
Forced gift giving, in any way, shape, or form = bullshit.
Then why are all teams the Yankees travel to forced to do this? I'd have allot more respect for a team who issued a statement like this:
We wish to honor the career achievements of Mariano Rivera but our team is focused on winning baseball games. We will have no further comment on this matter.
Or, what if they actually want to do this? I myself will allow for that.
yeah, i know what you meant
since then theyve had boone, muser, pena, hillman and about 10 interims
id love to have mcrae back, but he's too damn old now
If they actually want to do what? Give a gift/ceremony or issue a statement like that?
"Here is a gift for kicking our asses for the last 20 years."
"Here is a gift for kicking our asses for the last 20 years."
It's total bullshit. What gets me most is the ceremony full of shit-eating grins and hugs and photo ops. Fuck that. The guy is going to be trying to beat you in a couple of hours just like he has since the early 90s. And you're going to reward that? A one sentence statement is all that needs to be said. Thank you, but no thank you.
And I won't be the least bit surprised next season when we start hearing rumors of his return.
It seems to me, and this seems to go across all od our major sports, but it just seems all to normal to "fraternize with the enemy" now. Being pretty much old school, I can't say that I like it.
But, it seems like I will have to accept it, as it is going on all of the time. Just not to the extent of the MO's last stand world tour.
"Here is a gift for kicking our asses for the last 20 years."
Every game I go to, I'm shocked at how many opposing players mill around 2nd base, hugging, joking and laughing like they're best friends.
That's the enemy!!! In just a few minutes they'll be trying to beat you!
