The Catch

Not a fisherman

but a baseball player

Willie Mays

Say Hey Kid

Today was the day

September 29th , 1954

the Kid turned his back and sprinted straight back to the wall

He would never fall

and better than that he lost his hat

as he lifted his glove up to snag the ball

World Series Game 1

It was loads of fun

As the Giants won it all in a sweep

You just never know when a kid could do something you rarely see

Willie Mays was the bees knees

And after that it was always known as

The Catch

Dedicated to Willie Mays the greatest baseball player ever.

Go Giants !!

Interesting that you mention 'the catch'. I was 8 year's old when I was at that game with my father. Most likely one of the most famous catches ever made in a baseball game .... and I remember .... nothing .... absolutely nothing. The only memories that I have about the 1954 World Series was that Dusty Rhodes just killed them and that we beat the Indians 4 straight. I also seem to think that the Indians had four 20 game winners that year .... I think being 8 years old and at the Polo Grounds for a WS game was all my little mind could comprehend at the time. I've seen the catch on YouTube a million times ....
