""Lord, that Zeets contract hurts. Kind of like the clap...it just keeps burning.
Damn that's funny.
The other day I had one of those, "Holy shit, I can't believe the Giants won the World Series" moments again. I imagine many of you have experienced that same feeling several times this offseason.
This was followed by a much less dreamy and more pratical reflection of, "How in the hell did the Giants win the world series with the payroll mistakes they made with Zito and Rowand?"
Nothing can compare to the feeling when the Giants got that final out against the Rangers. But the day Zito's contract officially runs out will be a day of rejoicing indeed.[/QUOTE]
It just shows how much luck, or as some call it 'destiny', does into winning rings. Sometimes the stars align and you get the breaks. Usually staying healthy is the biggest break, which we did in spades...our injuries helped us: Wellenmeyer goes down, here comes Bum. Rowand out, Torres in. Etc.
Unless it's the Yankees, you can go through all the champs and generally see teams that had to get a ton of breaks to make it work, and it's why except for the Yankees no one has repeated as champs in a while. Even for them it was a while ago.
