FX series. I am binging it now on Hulu. I should have it finished tonight.

Half hour drama (what was the last 30 min drama series?) about a high prestige chef who got out of south Chicago but comes back to run his brothers sandwich shop after the brother commits suicide. It stars Jeremy Allen White (Lip from Shameless) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Punisher S1).

The guest stars are impressive. I am not a foodie, but this show feels like the creators were foodies. It just feels legit with how it treats food and kitchen culture.

Overall, it seems like a good show.

I just watched ep 7. I think the entire episode was a single shot. Holy shit. Epic!

Just crushed it in like a day.

Kept getting better and better as it went.

Ep 7 was incredibly original.

Great ending that sets up a lot of direction for S2.

Ep7 isn’t really original, but it was incredibly well done. Before I realized what they were doing, I really felt the tension. The single take really added to increasing pressure.

I just finished watching both seasons with my wife.

I don't watch a lot of TV... but this is one of the best 1/2 hour shows I've ever seen.

More of a drama than a comedy... but authentic and funny too, with amazing shifts in tone and story-telling. Some episodes slow down and focus on one character... some episodes are positively operatic (in a great sense of that word) with crescendoing emotion.

I highly, highly recommend.

The S2 Xmas dinner episode is right up there with ^this^... fantastic story-telling.

This is the kind of show that sticks with you.

Crazy... I was just typing my response here as you posted this.
You liked my comment up thread which bumped the thread for me. Lots of discussion on this show on “the other site”, so I didn’t even realize S2 went essentially unnoticed here.

The Christmas dinner in S2 is one of the best single TV episodes of any show ever. The drama was crazy. The cast was spectacular. The acting was top notch.

Having Odenkirk and Bernthal square up, toe-to-toe was one of the greatest scenes I have ever witnessed, between 2 of the best actors in the biz right now.

Agreed.

My wife and I both have some addiction in our family groups... and my wife actually has a borderline alcoholic mom with significant emotional issues... they got the family dynamics there pitch-perfect.

As good as the Christmas episode was I honestly think cousin's episode right after it was even better. Just a phenomenal season.

That being said, if my favorite local sandwich shop turned into a fancy expensive place I would be so fucking salty. LOL.
