Out of that group Moses is the best player and deserved his deal. P . Smith was an overpay and Crowder left b/c of money but we were capped strapped and couldn't match the money he got from the Jets. Was it a loss? Yes but we could live without Crowder. I believe Sherff will resign. All of those players who are now out of the NFL or went on to other teams, we have better players at their positions.

2014 was a bad draft except for Moses. 2015 was bad except for Scherff but he was at pick #5 so he should be a slam dunk.

Not defending Allen but that list is pretty bad.

Washington Redskins draft history - Wikipedia

I actually view this in a positive manner. Note that the list ends with the 2015 draft. The 2016 draft was also pretty bad w/ some exceptions. However it appears to have gotten better with the last 3 drafts & especially the last two (although we won't know for several years).

I believe that timing coincides with a gradual shift in personnel duties away from Allen to more football competent folks. I truly believe at this time Allen has little to no input regarding draft day decisions. I realize that this can't be confirmed, but a lot of signs point to this setup. Time will tell if the last 3 drafts are a major upgrade over all of the other ones during the Snyder era.

Question for you. Who in the FO was responsible for drafting Haskins and who was responsible for Sweat?

They both might be great and both could suck but I think it tells a story. :noidea:

My source tells me that Kyle Smith is controlling the drafts. 2014 draft really hurt with the trade down and the sections of Murphy and Long.

Haskins and Sweat were both no brainer picks. No matter who decided(Synder,, Allen, Gruden, or Smith) on those two, those picks had to be made.

I believe both guys are backups now. They were taken over players who are and were more highly rated then them at draft time. That draft could of been one of the best in Redskins history.

again any player making a decade in the league is a good pick especially when the alleged better guys didnt produce better

That is fair pt perhaps at least for Haskins. However - as Dean stated - the Haskins pick was a no brainer especially given the Skins QB situation. Who else could/should they have picked at that spot? I guess we may never know who was the largest influence on that pick.

In terms of Sweat - why does that have to be an Allen/Snyder decision? They guy is a talent - not a novelty like RG3. This may be the steal of the draft & eventually make other teams look stupid (we will see). IMO that pick could easily have been primarily made by true football personnel & not Snyder. Again - we may never know.

Oh well - I just know that regardless of this I see signs of Allen having a different role with this team at the current time. Remember Snyder was at odds with him in the recent past & there were even rumors that Allen might be kicked to the curb. Regardless I am excited about the 2019 picks.

You failed my test. :D

I believe Snyder was the impetus for the Haskins pick. Now I am not pissed about the pick. I was not happy about RGIII but he did not give up half a team to get Haskins. The Redskins were going to have to roll with Keenum and whoever they found to back him up.

I believe Jay was the impetus behind Sweat. I think he wanted a edge rusher. So I agree, this pick was a football guys pick.

The Redskins have been very lucky the past few years having guys like Allen and Sweat falling to them when they probably deserved to be picked earlier. A little luck never hurts.

How do you not take Haskins with our QB depth chart? Both picks were good for the team no matter who was behind them. Jay is a offensive QB coach, why wouldn't he not want Haskins? Why was haskins all about Synder? It was a team choice. We are very lucky to have both of these guys on our team. Sweat dropped b/c of a phony medical report. If that reports doesn't come out he is a top 10 pick.

Top QB and pass rushing talent just fell out of the top 10 of the draft and we got both of them. No matter what happens you don't pass on these two guys in April.

Yeah...we could have gone your way and taken Moses in round 2, or even 1.

What hurts is when they go elsewhere and succeed but we sign FAs such as Paul Richardson.

Well Dad. We could have had Morgan Moses in round 2 like Dean advocated.

Have you actually looked at the guys selected after our original pick? Trent Murphy has had a better career than all except maybe Lamarcus Joyner.

As for Spencer Long, Dean is still mad about Gabe Jackson. Gabe finished 2018 as he 15th best guard in football...not exactly special.

The thing I never get about dean , we still got Moses , yet he still gripes about it and the players he says were better aren’t
