At the end of next season per my sources(twitter). Makes me wonder how bad his health is. I hope he's able to coach again after this season somewhere. I hope OSU fans appreciate the success he's had, even though it won't end on a high note at the end here.

I was wondering what was going on with a surprise press conference? Our program has taken a step backwards the past couple of seasons. Thad did a great job with the program and it is unfortunate how it will end. I just hope the next man up can bring back the program back up to becoming a contender again.

In b4 UF fans call it the Urbs fake health problems.

The good thing is that with the all the success he did have, getting a great/good coach shouldn't be an issue. First people I thought of were Chris Mack at Xavier or Chris Holtman at Butler. Both have done outstanding jobs at where they are.

As much as Thad did for the program, this needed to happen. The last few seasons and recruiting lately have been a mess. There was just no momentum going forward with him.

Not sure how realistic Shaka and Sean Miller are, but this was thrown out there a little bit ago.

I just realized that Matta is only 50 years old. I could have sworn he was in his 60's

Chris Mack would be my #1 on the list of "realistic" candidates

4 S16's and an E8 in 8 years at Xavier is pretty damn good. He'd be a great hire for sure.

I agree it needed to happen. I'm quite surprised it took this long for this to happen.

The timing is a bit odd, which you'd hope means they have something up their sleeves.

Thad has had health issues but from the words said it seems like this may have been a "Suggested" retirement.

My only guess is that they might have something lined up with an NBA head coach or NBA assistant coach. Trying to pull another coach from the college ranks is going to be difficult. Maybe Fred Hoiberg is getting the shits of having to deal with the Bulls? Just an example.
