I am just basing it on what I have seen from JD since 2011 and by the fact that there is a lot that has to be done and not all of it can be done in one offseason. We need a whole lot and most of that will have to come from the minors because with the big contracts we already have in Fielder and Choo there isn't a lot of money to be spent. I don't hold out nearly as much hope for Fielder as some of you do and I have never really been that big of a fan of a player like Choo. If I am right about Fielder he is going to have to spare us to death for quite some time before the organization decides to replace him at 1B. Until then that is a big hole in the lineup. That is just my opinion though.
But that's not saying how the other teams in the division will do. Our mediocrity may still be in a middle of a pennant race. And I suspect Fielder will have something to prove.

It is hard to prove anything when you are aging and/or hurt. I thought he might have something to prove this season.

I certainly hope mediocrity doesn't put us in a pennant race because that is what usually gets teams in trouble. It gets them to make foolish trades only to not even make the postseason or to get eliminated very early in the postseason.

Fielder will have something to prove because of this season. And if we become mediocre next year, as you say, we have the farm system to come rescue us. Gallo, whatnot.

Either way I plan on letting next season play out and am expecting great things!

Damn, COL won again. We're running away with it.

Hard not to when you don't hardly score runs, you're bound to lose more than the next poor team that can score more than 1-2 any given night

The position players on the farm will not be ready to rescue us next season. Gallo is probably the closest and he won't be ready for at least close to another year. When those guys do come up it will take them a season or so to get acclimated to the big leagues enough to do any rescuing. Unless Fielder and Choo rebound completely then we are mediocre at best next year in my opinion. I don't expect that out of either one of them and especially Fielder. We will find out within about 9 months. I hope you are right.

Can't count on the farm, and unless the pitching is upgraded tremendously and another bat or 2 is added this teams best hope would be to finish in the middle of the division
